DShiznit 0 #1 August 10, 2004 I currently have a J4 with a Sabre 190. The pack is pretty nice, just a tad tight, but as it should be. What is the smallest size ZP non-xbraced main that can fit in this container? I'm about to get a demo 170 for a few weeks, I know this will fit, but what about next time down to a 150? With a 170, will I need to get a different D-bag? Thanks!
mr2mk1g 10 #2 August 10, 2004 D-bag belongs to the container not to the canopy. So bag stays. 170 will work... tighten up that closing loop and be aware that your main flap will most likely start to open up a lot if it doesn't already. I wouldn't put a 150 in there if I were you. At best you'll make your jump budies nervous.
masterrig 1 #3 August 10, 2004 I have a J-4 with a 190 - Sabre. This is the 3rd. main that has been in it. The first was a 248 - Maverone then a 170 - Sabre now, as I say, I have a 190 in it. The 170 fit nicely, just a bit of loop shortening. I wouldn't want to go any smaller, as the man said, you'll scare your free-fall buddies. Also, as was pointed-out, the D-bag that that came with the harness-container, stays with the harness-container as do the risers. Hope, this helps. John4455 0 #5 August 10, 2004 I had a triathlon 175 in a J4 and it fit pretty well. I wouldn't recommend trying to put a 150 in a J4 How do ya like it Johnny?
freakflyer9999 1 #6 August 10, 2004 I've never seen it done, but I'm told that you can have your rigger sew in a little padding to make the container smaller. Or just shove some newspaper in there every pack job. KG
DShiznit 0 #7 August 10, 2004 When the time comes that may be an option. I really like my container! Thanks for the feedback.
nacmacfeegle 0 #8 August 11, 2004 I'm not a rigger. A 170 will fit in a J4 nicely, I have had 2 J4s both with 170s, a monarch, a sabre, and currently a spectre. If you get a 150 and find that things are a bit sad and baggy, I have heard that liners can be fitted to the tray to take up some of the slack, but I've never seen this actually done.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. johnny1488 1 #9 August 12, 2004 I jumped my xfire2 141 in my j4 for a while. Never a problem. It didnt even look that bad when packed. I used the j4 bag and was fine. I wa sin the process of getting my new container at the time, so it wasnt my ideal situation, but it worked great. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!"
