atsaubrey 0 #1 August 9, 2004 Can a master rigger make freebags/bridle/PC. I lost mine over the weekend and need one in a hurry and am worried RW wont be able to get one to me in time. I wont know how fast RW can get one made up for me but just incase I like to know if my rigge could build me one. Aren't the PC's standard sizes? Do riggers stock PC's? If they dont stock them, does anyone know if they can order them off the shelf from the manufacturer? I just need my rig back within 3 weeks. I am so bummed."GOT LEAD?" atsaubrey 0 #3 August 9, 2004 If it was only that easy. My rig is a cut down tandem that was custom made so obviously the freebag wont be an off the shelf type part."GOT LEAD?"

hookitt 1 #5 August 9, 2004 RWS makes a rig for the military that's basicaly a smaller Tandem rig. It's very possible the parts are on the shelf. The Reserve Pilot chute is a stock item and usually the Freebags of all sizes are pre made. You will have to wait for RW to send you one. None of those parts are rigger carried Items and are only made at the factory.

atsaubrey 0 #7 August 9, 2004 QuoteContact mjosparky -- as usual. I know he has vast amounts of knowledge, but I guess I was hoping my rigger could build me one if time becomes an issue. Kinda funny that I cant wait to get backinto the air after my first cutaway. You'd think it would be just the opposite."GOT LEAD?"
atsaubrey 0 #8 August 9, 2004 next question. Since I have basically a "cutdown" tandem and use a 335 ft2 reserve, are the freebags on tandems usually all the same size? If so what are the chances of them having one on the shelf? I think most of RW's tandems use PD360 reserves. Would the freebag be the same by chance or are tandems actually different from sport rigs? I'm just about sick thinking I wont have my rig ready in time for the boogie."GOT LEAD?"

Some where on the harness, try a reserve riser, you should find the TSO lable. Not the big orange things, but a white one about 2" x 4 or 5". It should have the container size on it. Also try the packing/data card. Once you have the reserve container size, call, don't write the RWS. Tell them your problems and have them FedEx it next day air. atsaubrey 0 #10 August 9, 2004 I just got off the phone with Dorthy at RW and she has one in stock!!! She is such a life saver. I am BOOGIE BOUND!!!!"GOT LEAD?"
freefalle 0 #11 August 9, 2004 I THINK Im right on this issue,, although a master rigger can probably make you a freebag, they probably won't or shouldn't, the reason being is the freebag is a TSO part, if you put a non-TSO part in that rig, IE a free-bag not certified by the manufacture it will void the TSO, thats probably not a good idea. freakflyer9999 1 #12 August 9, 2004 RWS just made a whole new harness for me and got it to my door step in a little over a week. I would think that even if they had to make the freebag, they could get it to you fairly quickly. Unfortunately in my case, they made the harness the wrong size, so I had to ship it back to them. UPS says they will receive it today, so I'll just wait and see how long it takes them to rework it for me. KennyG.
riggerrob 643 #13 August 10, 2004 You are lucky that Relative Workshop had a tandem Vector freebag on the shelf. It is probably a size V-13, as the vast majority of civilian Vector Tandems use PD-360 reserves. A few of the early Vector Tandems used Pioneer High-Lifter 375 reserves, which have the same pack volume. You can install any Vector II reserve pilotchute in any Vector II container, ignoring size. However, only the factory can manufacture freebags because they are TSOed items. No-one outside the factory has patterns and only the factory has an official - FAA blessed - system for tracking materials, inspections, etc.
