Duke6901 0 #1 July 17, 2004 Im new, on jump #12. I have come accross a rig for sale --$2500. The rig is a javalin J5/Saber210(ugly)/PD 2?? Reserve/the rig has mini 3ring, mini risers, and cypress (due for 4 year). As far as I know all of the gear DOM = 1996. It all looks good but main is well used. He also said he would throw in a altimeter and other odds/ins. Is it worth it? Thanks for any help. You only live once, but cowards die a thousand deaths! GravityGirl 0 #2 July 17, 2004 What is "well used" on the main. How many jumps? Where has it been jumped/packed? My estimate is as follows: Javelin circa 1996: $400.00 (has it had the mod on the main closing loop grommet area?) Cypres due for it's 4-year $450.00 (make sure it's the 4-year and not the 8-year) Very used Sabre $350.00 (Has it every had new lines?) PD reserve $600.00. (Has it been maintained over the last 10 years with regular pack cyles? Sitting in a closet?) Of course this gear could be in a lot better shape than I am interpreting from your post. So this is not entirely accurate. Perhaps you could ask a few more questions of the owner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! Duke6901 0 #3 July 17, 2004 Thanks for the info. The container is in good "nick". I dont know about the mod to the closing loop. (Could anyone explain this to me so I can have some idea about it while asking.) The main seems to have around 600+- jumps, dont get me wrong-- it looks good, lines in good shape(micro), no rips, etc... it is just somewhat faded. Man. tag is not readable. Rig was packed in hanger or inside building (out of sun). Reserve well maintained... THANKS You only live once, but cowards die a thousand deaths! Duke6901 0 #6 July 17, 2004 Does the new info change previous values. Thanks for any help that can be given. P.S. The container has not had the closing loop mod You only live once, but cowards die a thousand deaths!
GravityGirl 0 #7 July 17, 2004 I would spend up to $600.00 on the container. The older Javelins may have issues with flaps staying closed. I would spend up to $500.00 on the main. At 600 jumps on the original lines, it does need a new line set. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
Duke6901 0 #8 July 20, 2004 I jumped the rig last weekend (wow! hard opening). One thing that I notices about the rig was it didnt have the metal tube housing for the cutaway line, it was just yellow plastic line inside fabric. I didnt like that. Does anyone know how expencive it would be to get the metal tube put in. P.S. I emailed javelin, but figured it would take a week or so for them to reply. Thanks for any help!! masterrig 1 #9 July 20, 2004 If, you do purchase the rig you mention, I would strongly recommend having a rigger convert the 'soft'-housings to hard housings. Check an earlier 'thread' on this topic on this forum. Chuck (edit)This was meant for Duke6901
