PhreeZone 20 #1 July 12, 2004 Any one have any experience in replacing one of these? I noticed that a previous owner of my canopy must have had uncovered metal links and they beat up the grommets on my slider. One of the dents finally started to crack open and I don't want it to wear on my canopy or cut a line. Anyone have a source for #8 brass grommets? Are they easy to replace or is it just easier to order a new slider?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
hookitt 1 #2 July 12, 2004 Unless you have access to a #8 Grommet Smasher (inserting die) It's cheaper to just get a new slider. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
councilman24 37 #3 July 12, 2004 Go look at para gear. die is over $185 (or $600 for a good one), grommet $1.40. Could never justify the cost of the die even though I would have liked one. Ask around for a rigger that has one. Otherwise easier to get a new slider.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
masterrig 1 #4 July 12, 2004 I'd have to agree with councilman on this one. It would be 'cheaper', in the long-run to buy a new slider. I have the #8 - grommet setter and grommets and could do the job but, after you paid the freight to send it to me plus my bill and return shipping... Possibly, a rigger in your area might be able to help you. Chuck
