CrystalRN 0 #1 February 10, 2015 My name is Crystal. I live in Southwest Florida. I decided to take a tandem jump for my 35th birthday and instantly became hooked. Within 1 week I had already completed my second tandem, Aff ground school and my first solo. I find myself on my days off work perusing skydive equipment websites, watching YouTube videos and this website. I was finally able to complete jump 2 yesterday before the clouds came in. I've spent 2 days hanging around the hangar trying to weather it out. I've had to learn patience as a student with the sport. Looking forward to beautiful weather thursday so I can jump again. First solo I was terrified at the door way. I hesitated at pull time, but I pulled. Second jump way more relaxed, other than a minor mishap at the exit. My taller and my instructor thought i was giving the go signal, in reality i was trying to fit myself and my container under the exit rail, so he accidentally pulled me out, he said i recovered nicely and I even got to perform a couple turns and did way better than I thought I would, I pulled on time. I made it safely to the ground. My issues are I cannot seem to land standing up :-( Any tips and advice for this newbie..? Sure with practice I'll get better, but kind of don't want to look like a fool either since it's a male dominant sport.

I'm glad I didn't give bad advice. You're on such a big student canopy now, I know it's going to be a little hard to do. You'll probably need to push harder than you'd ever imagine to slow that canopy down. Not wanting to hurt yourself is a good motivator though! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
