AlanS 1 #1 May 14, 2014 Hello All, I started jumping a long time ago in college (in the pre-AAD days), and after 36 jumps I stopped jumping. The reasons were as a college student I couldn't afford a rig, and my fiance asked me to stop. Life intruded for 20 years, but one ex-wife and two wonderful and mostly grown kids later - no longer bound by my promise, and now able to afford a rig - I'm back doing what I loved in college. Spent some time in the tunnel to prepare then started AFF in December and now have my A-license. It only took 20+ years. :)
dthames 0 #2 May 14, 2014 Welcome back to the sport. Older "new" jumpers are not uncommon.Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
skymama 37 #3 May 14, 2014 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
AlanS 1 #4 May 14, 2014 skymama... Are you old enough to get your POPS# yet? Yes I am. How do you get one? BTW, My skydiving goals are: be part of BigWay jumps. have accurate landing more so than swooping Do some free flying. (I can sit fly in the tunnel, but haven't done this skydiving yet.) I don't have any interest in BASE jumping. My bucket list includes: - Doing a cross-country jump where you pull at 13k+ and go several miles back the drop zone. - Jump in Hawaii after getting my B-license. - Jump at the Blue Hole in Belize. - Ballon jump - Helicopter jump - Skyvan jump or if ever possible out the back of a C-130. So will be asking questions about that. Other things I've done include open water swimming like the Alcatraz Swim and the Tiburon Mile Swim. I'm still hoping to do a Golden Gate swim. skymama 37 #5 May 14, 2014 Check out this site for the POPS info. After looking at your list, I think you should put the Christmas boogie at Eloy on your list. You'll be able to knock a few things off it and I bet you'll have fun!She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Hmm.... Maybe this is a discussion for a different thread, but does going to the Eloy Christmas boogie mean a should not buy a used rig with an Argus AAD in it? Well, I don't think you should buy any rig with an Argus AAD in it! Do a search in the Gear forum about them. I don't even think they are still in business. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

jumpsalot-2 3 #10 December 9, 2014 " Not " or " Now " Alan ? Do you have your B license ? If you do, get your Hawaii trip started. It's a beautiful place. Check out North Shore Shark Adventures while you are there. 10 miles from the drop zone.Life is short ... jump often.

Check out North Shore Shark Adventures while you are there. 10 miles from the drop zone. Yes, "now". Need to proof-read my posts!! I was in Hawaii back in August, but couldn't jump then without the B-license. I'm looking forward to doing it next time. I did get a chance go scuba diving, but I'm an "air hog" and was the 2nd person up on both dives. Also had a headache for the rest of the evening even though the dives were only 40 feet down. Not sure what caused it. And thanks, I will check out North Shore Shark Adventures next time I'm out there.
