New to America and American DZs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

Long-time lurker on DZ.com but I decided to sign up and contribute after moving here from Australia about 2 weeks ago.

I'm a hella novice skydiver. 40 Jumps, a few hours in the Singapore tunnel, and recovering from my first jumping accident. Tried to force an on landing from a just-off-DZ position on a newish canopy and ended up with an object collision and an ankle reconstruction. Lived to learn, luckily.

Anyway, I'm living and working at Stanford and looking forward to jumping again in the next couple of months. Any friendly locals able to offer a carpool to their local DZ one weekend so I can meet some people, submit some paperwork, and speak with some experienced jumpers about novices returning to skydiving from an injury?

Welcome to the forums! :)
As far as going back after an injury, you just have to have confidence in yourself and face your fears and go for it. I've had injuries in skydiving too. That first jump back is tough! But, once you finish your jump and land safely, you will have the biggest smile on your face. Don't doubt yourself. I bet you're smart enough to not make the same mistake again, aren't you? ;)
