VenomJunky 0 #1 February 17, 2014 Hello everyone, starting AFF soon as the weather here warms up enough to do so. Have the money set aside to get me to my A license already so it's killing me to wait. Decided to take a long trip down to the closest wind tunnel to at least get an idea of how difficult it might be. My wife and kids got some tunnel time in as well! Here is a link to the the tunnel vid, my part is around the 6:56 mark. We had a great time, the instructors were great especially with my little ones and we can't wait to go back sometime. BTW flying your body is much more difficult than it looks I found out! http://youtu.be/RFH3XLFwVrs
FlyingRhenquest 1 #2 February 18, 2014 It gets easier. The first few minutes it's a struggle just to stay stable but it isn't too long before you can turn and kind of go where you want to. It's kind of like learning how to swim; once you relax, stop trying to muscle your way through the environment and actually work with it, it does't take long to really get the hang of it. Once you're comfortable with the idea that you can get stable whenever you want to, you can start opening up your game and getting a bit more aggressive with your maneuvers. Good luck with your AFF! I think you'll do fine!I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
VenomJunky 0 #3 February 18, 2014 Thanks! Yeah the instructor told me my main problem was not relaxing and kept de-arching a bit. I was able to figure out how to do turns and move forward and back somewhat though. AFF can't come soon enough!
skymama 37 #4 February 18, 2014 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
VenomJunky 0 #5 February 18, 2014 Thanks, yeah it was a 6 1/2 hour drive and fairly pricey thing to do for just myself so we made a family trip out of it. My 4 year old took to it pretty well, my 5 year old was not soo keen and only did one little session. My wife enjoyed it and plans to do a tandem when it warms up.
