ktm690 0 #1 October 4, 2013 I did my jump course with the military 26 years ago, two weeks of training and I got injured the day before we jumped and never got a chance to do it. It took 26 years but I finally got to exit the plane. I made my first jump (IAD) last weekend at Eden North. Going back tomorrow to do one more IAD and then take my AFF next spring. I finally found something thats makes racing motorcycles seem boring! Rob
FlyingRhenquest 1 #2 October 5, 2013 Meh. You don't look that fat. I weighed in at 245 on my first AFF jump. They clocked me at 170 mph on my belly. I've lost about 30 pounds since then and typically average 130 on an average jump. Now I have to go into a steep dive to hit my average speeds during AFF! Congratulations, by the way! Welcome to the sport!I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

skymama 37 #4 October 5, 2013 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
ktm690 0 #5 October 6, 2013 There are very few wind tunnels in Canada but we get to Montreal once a year and they have a tunnel. I think the price will make it a rare event. I got in another jump today (IAD) but I had a massive snivel and my lines twisted to the point the ground observer stated he would have cut. I managed to kick it out, but it was a little too much excitement for jump number two. I was hoping I would have had a nice big fluffy chute... go figure, it showed up eventually. Boomerdog 0 #6 October 6, 2013 Congratulations, I had a weight problem too, got the pounds off. Yea, after a jump, motorcycles and roller coasters at amusement parks just seem too tame. You're not alone, a fellow jumper at my DZ just sold his dirt bikes to buy a rig. It just get's in the blood don't it!

FlyingRhenquest 1 #8 October 15, 2013 BealioWere your AFF instructors head down? That would be sweet! The couple times I got away from them they were! When they started letting go of me, they made it a point to only put bigger guys with me, and even then they wanted to put weights on. Fortunately from jump 1 I never needed assistance pulling on time. One of my instructors later called me "The fastest falling, most altitude aware student I've ever had." I think if I'd been any less altitude aware, I probably would have got a bowling speech. These days I average about 130, which is still fast but not ridiculously fast. I could probably slow down to the mid 120s if I were jumping with someone who fell that slow.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here? Every ride I had about the same excitement as going clothes shopping with my wife. No, I do not like shopping with my wife. Skydiving has been a great motivator to get in shape. The healthier I am the safer I'll be! Plus, I find when I'm at the DZ I tend to forego food for conversation. There is a lot more good convo than good food ;)You are not the contents of your wallet.
