BoogieFever 0 #1 October 1, 2011 I've wanted to jump for as long as I can remember. I told my wife one time that I wanted to go and she got all nervous and chatty and I put it off because doing so was easier than dealing with her being a nervous nellie over the whole thing. Well eventually she came around to the idea and she got me a tandem jump at a place near us. This would be a 14,500 foot jump with 10,000 feet of free fall. All I could think was DUUUUUUUUDE...that's gonna be awesome...and scary...and hopefully awesome again. She got it for me last Christmas but I just got time to go last weekend. I don't want to take up too much room here so I'll post a link to the story I wrote about the jump. If you're thinking about making the jump or know someone who is then this should be a good read too. I can't wait to go back. This place has an accelerated free fall course and I can't make it through a day without thinking about it. Heck I took 4 commercial flights the next week and all I could think about was jumping off the planes. If you want to hear the full rookie rant on the first jump here it is: http://southernoutdoorsman.blogspot.com/2011/09/good-morning-this-weekend-i-took-ride.html

Divinfool 0 #4 October 1, 2011 Well written and entertaining! I'm not sure of your age, but don't let too many days go by before you start AFF. I only wish I had started when I was younger. I did a tandem on Aug 7 without any intent to do AFF...within 2 weeks I was enrolled in ground school and even took 3 days off work to do it (I've only missed about 6 days of work in the last 5 years). Best decision I ever made. After only 13 jumps....I now realize this is the sport I was always meant to do (and I've done almost every sport my mom told me not to!). Good luck in your training and if you are like me, you will be spending lots of time on DZ.com and praying for blue skies. MikeFear is the thief of dreams..... BoogieFever 0 #5 October 1, 2011 I'm 41 so I'm finding this sport late...or early depending on how long I live.

bluetwo 0 #7 October 8, 2011 One of the best decisions I ever made: just go!! ...and now I tell myself the same thing when the chance arises because procrastination usually ends up in disappointment._______________________________________
