Batwing...a good choice?

Recommended Posts

Let me start off by saying thank you for your input. I recognize you dislike my choices about w/l and yes, I realize that I'm going to die. Now...for my question.
Right now I'm jumping a Saber II with a w/l of 1.30 or so. I plan on downsizing to a 150 Stiletto late this fall (will have ~350 to 400) and would like to spend some time on a like wingloaded (ie Stiletto 170 or Batwing 171) more eliptical canopy. I have an opportunity to swap my Saber II for a batwing with a fresh line set. My question is this. Will the batwing give me the experience I'm looking for? Or should I look for a used Stiletto 170?

Saftey aside for the moment. The value of the swap is way off. The Batwing 171 even with a new linset will be lucky to fetch $400 on the market.

Even a Sabre 2 with 500+ jumps on the linest is worth more than twice that.

I enjoyed my Batwing but thems the facts....

Batwing...a good choice?

NO ;)

I dont think that is a very helpfull comment but more of a smear. Though there is some validity to it it is presented in a way showing no reason behind it.

The question was if it was a fair trade with the Sabre2 and the answer would be yes only if the person getting the Sabre2 was also giving some cash with the Batwing. The batwing was a very good canopy and that is from my experience with well over 1000 jumps on a Batwing. The Value of Batwings today is going to be from very low to about $500 depending on condition, lines, jump numbers, ect... The canopy never really became popular and as a result does not carry much re-sale vale. That taken into account and the fact that the Sabre2 is a "New" technology canopy your not comparing apples to apples. The Sabre2 has a great resale value and a canopy for canopy with cash could be a fair trade.
