RIGGER 0 #1 June 3, 2004 My post is regarding an issue I found when a skydiver from over seas show me his rig for I&R. The Cypres AAD was mfg. in 1994, nothing on the recored card shows 4 and 8 years Airtec or SSK service & check & last Batteries change. Looking on the unit itself shows that the Cypres NEVER passed 4 & 8 years service. First time batteries has been changed according to the in unit box mark was 6 years + form 1994, they were changed in end of 2000 & were out of the 2 years life service at this point of time. The AAD MISSED ALL Airtec updates which are a MUST for a SAFER AAD & the Safety of the user. Safe Rigging & Skydiving !!!
riggerrob 643 #2 June 3, 2004 Yes, missed inspections are common on closet queens. And lazy skydivers try to cheat by only sending their Cypres in for 8-year inspections. SSK and Airtec do not care, they just for 4-year and 8-year inspections and new batteries. Hee! Hee!
JSE 1 #3 June 3, 2004 I have a cypress that was manufactured in '96 and the only sticker on it says last battery change in 99. i am assuming it has never had a 4 year or 8 year inspection. I want to get it in date but only if it is cost affective. Are they going to charge me for two inspections or just one? -jeff
masterrig 1 #4 June 3, 2004 They'll only charge you for one check. If, it had the 4-yr. check, there will be a small silver sticker on the side of the unit with a year on it. You might look on SSK-Industries web page for more information and costs Chuck
