Charuva 0 #1 July 30, 2010 Hello everyone! I did my 1st tandem jump in Nov 2003 at Skydive Guam and loved it so much, I did a 2nd tandem jump the following month during a port visit we had there. I jumped from 14k and it was the most awesome sight i've seen. You could see the entire island of Guam from way up there. That was an amazing sight. I was interested in taking the AFF course but just didn't have the money to do so then, nor the time since I was on sea duty (I'm AD Navy). Then I spent the next 4 1/2 years having my 3 children. On my first jump, I purchased the DVD and forgot that I had it until I was unpacking my last box after moving back the the US recently. And once I watched it again, it brought that urge to want to be back in the skies again, to feel that feeling of excitement, happiness, freedom. Wow....I'm glad I bought that DVD now. Now, with the husband and 3 kids, having a house and on sea duty again...haha, at least I'll have the time to save up to start taking classes at the closest DZ here next year. One is about 30 minutes from my house, so it's a perfect location! Should I try another tandem jump again, or just proceed right into an AFF course? If I've waited 7 years since the last time I went, I can wait a little while longer. But the longing to go is going to eat at me!
skymama 37 #2 July 30, 2010 Welcome to the forums! And if you're not ready to go alone yet, it's no big deal. I did 3 tandems before I decided to try it alone. Everyone progresses at their own level. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
bluetwo 0 #3 July 30, 2010 Welcome back! It IS a good thing you got that DVD. I did one tandem myself, because I thought it was a requirement, which it turns out it was a good experience for me and considered good in my instructors eyes too, so I'm glad I did it and glad I went right into a static line progression after that. I didn't have the AFF option without driving 4 plus hours every time... Best to ya whatever you decide to do. _______________________________________
