schutztj 0 #1 June 22, 2010 Hey everyone! I'm extremely new to skydiving and after doing some random google searches I decided I'd introduce myself here. I took my first jump about a week ago on a whim as it has always been something I've wanted to do yet never something I thought I'd actually go through with. I loved it so much that I decided to pursue my certification. Now I have my second jump this weekend. I'm a little nervous about jumping solo after this next tandem one but I suppose that's a natural feeling. Anyway, I just wanted to drop by the forums and introduce myself and hopefully looking around here can teach me some things.
skymama 37 #2 June 22, 2010 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
bluetwo 0 #3 June 23, 2010 To be honest I got queasy on my tandem and felt a little off for a minute after my first skydive but every jump since then has been so much better. Reasons might just be because static line jumps are only at 3500 feet and there's no head down freefall or wild turns to upset a virgin skydivers stomach. Ha ha... My super-huge student canopy literally wont do anything fun with my weight under it. Ya gotta start somewhere though right? _______________________________________
schutztj 0 #4 July 2, 2010 So everything is set and I have my ground schooling tomorrow evening and then the next morning I have my first "solo" jump. Of course, I'll have two instructors jumping with me but I'll have a solo canopy flight which seems to be the only part I think I could mess up, haha. Ultimately, I'm just extremely excited to finally be moving toward accomplishing something I never thought I'd actually do. Also, I know there are probably plenty of threads on this type of thing and I haven't really had a chance to search so if so don't bother answering, but if anyone has any suggestions for a beginners rig I'd be all ears. Any tips on what to look for would be great. I'm 6'1 and 160lbs and still (hopefully not for long) completely ignorant when it comes to this stuff. skycamefalling 0 #5 July 3, 2010 The thought of being under canopy for the first time was a little nerve racking for me. But once I was up there, I felt comfortable. It was fun and really peaceful. You will do just fine up there. As for a rig, dont worry about that right now. Focus on getting through your training and getting your A license. Good luck on your training and dont forget to arch, relax and have fun.Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
schutztj 0 #6 July 4, 2010 So today I went to the drop zone expecting merely to make my Category A jump but ended up making my A, B, and C jumps. Everything went well especially the third when I was actually released. It just felt much more natural to me than the first two. I can't wait to get that A license. schutztj 0 #7 July 13, 2010 UPDATE:: Just thought I'd keep you guys updated as to how things are going for me. This past weekend I completed 5 AFF jumps. I had to repeat Category D1 due to some mistakes on my part but after that everything went smoothly. I absolutely loved doing my first superman dive out of the airplane and then right into a back loop. Needless to say, I'm already a complete addict and can't wait until I have my A license. Until then though I have my first solo jump to look forward to next weekend!
