LadyDoc 0 #52 January 15, 2010 Yay! Yea, Nick said he'd kick my arse if I did any type of movements a low altitude because of the risk of an unwanted swoop and being flung into the ground. He also said that if (on the off chance) I happen to land in a tree, I should cut away and just walk away from the DZ and not even look back. My sister is a skydiver and she says the same thing, once you've flared between 10 feet and the ground you should more or less just try to touch your feet and stay there. Glad ya got in some good jumps!! and Welcome to central Florida Dude! we are pretty awesome here, but I may be a little biased. :-)If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
mutumbo 0 #53 January 15, 2010 Haha well i was still at about 30 feet midway thru the turn. Had i not let go and flared hard i woulda hit the ground pretty hard. Nothing near fatally but enough to really make it tickle. Yeah and i flared way high on one and just PLF'd instead of trying to run it out. So my record is 2 standing and 2 not so much lol!! Yeah if you manage to find a tree out there somehing has gone super wrong, trust me if i didnt do it today its pretty hard to do lol. I hink i made just about every mistake you could and still pass/ walk away.Thanatos340(on landing rounds)-- Landing procedure: Hand all the way up, Feet and Knees Together and PLF soon as you get bitch slapped by a planet. LadyDoc 0 #54 January 15, 2010 lol awesome! it's good that it wasn't a horrible "boo-boo". 2 more days until (theoretically) I get to make my first jump!! hopefully the weather will cooperate! If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL

thrillstalker 0 #56 January 17, 2010 if its going to be cold you will want gloves. tight baseball gloves with a pair of latex gloves on underneath them work pretty well."Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
LadyDoc 0 #57 January 17, 2010 Oh no, it was actually quite beautiful. 77 degrees today, unfortunately, the winds were too high and they were only allowing for hop and pops at the DZ. :-( next week looks beautiful yet again, hopefully the winds will keep it calm enough to actually jump. try 3!If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
