n23x 0 #1 May 28, 2004 Anyone seen it, worn it, jumped it? I am looking for an open face helmet that has good chin/jaw protection, and just ran across this today. All comments welcome! .jim"Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
piisfish 140 #2 May 28, 2004 diablopilot likes it apparently. Don't know if he's jumped it... Seem to be for tunnel rats and swoopers... Apparently good vision...scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
AggieDave 6 #3 May 28, 2004 I really want to see a picture of someone wearing it, to see how that chin piece fits over the face. Anyone have a pic?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
supafly 0 #4 May 28, 2004 I saw someone wearing one in Perris last weekend. Looked pretty slick IMO, but I wonder how good the chin protection can really be with the way it opens up (i.e. buckle on chin). I'd bet its more than fine for minor impacts to that area though.Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
VectorBoy 0 #5 May 28, 2004 Three months ago while I was over at bonehead I put one of the first ones chris made on. Very comfy like the gunner and very light weight of course. The jaws or chin guard opens up to slide over your head then close up. They are cool and not just for tunnel rats.
mr2mk1g 10 #6 May 28, 2004 I saw a guy wearing one at perris. It's flexible like the Gunner and articulates to a degree where the two halves meet, so I can't see the chin protection being up to anything but nocks and scrapes.... so I guess on a par with the protection afforded by any skydiving helmet. damion75 0 #7 May 28, 2004 That might have been my buddy Ginger Rich. He bought the third one off the line and has jumped it at Netheravon and Perris. It is pretty solid across the front - takes a bit of muscle to pull the 'jaws' apart and get it on but he has a small head and I have a melon so I can't tell you what it feels like. Made him look a bit like a chipmunk though... definitely not just a tunnel helmet. He liked it.*************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

livendive 8 #9 August 30, 2005 Quoteanyone have any pictures of this helmet on somebody's head? Yep, here's my ugly mug in my brand spankin' new Rat-Hat. It seems perfect for adding some chin protection on AFF jumps without covering the mouth, and I expect I'll also be wearing it on tandems and fun jumps. packing_jarrett 0 #11 August 31, 2005 I have nothing but good things to say about the Rat-Hat. I bought it for a camera helmet but ended up seeing it as a good freefly helmet. But if you look at the gear review it will tell you alot and what I think of it.Na' Cho' Cheese
