without_fears 0 #1 January 26, 2009 I just wanted to tell people who won't think I am crazy how excited I am to be making my very first jump in just a couple of weeks. Two weeks from now I will be experiencing not only my first dive, but my first out of state vacation to Vegas where I will be jumping and seeing the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead (I think.) WOOHOO Anybody have any advice for a first time jumper that will make it an even better experience?
Peej 0 #2 January 26, 2009 Hey Lacy, Welcome to the forums! I'm assuming you'll be doing a tandem? If that's the case the best advice i can give you is listen to your instructor and remember to breathe on the ground, in the plane and in freefall. It will help you relax and have fun Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
spindlee 0 #3 January 26, 2009 Another important thing to remember...don't forget to smile and enjoy the ride!! If in doubt, whip it out...

without_fears 0 #7 January 26, 2009 So this may be a dumb question, but what are good clothes to wear to jump in? I know you wear the jump suit for the jump, but what about under? I figured nothing too tight, and definately not too loose....Any tips?

I figured nothing too tight, and definately not too loose....Any tips? the DZ will have various sized jumpsuits to fit over your clothes. just wear a t-shirt and jeans or shorts. if it's colder wear long sleeves and / or long under wear under your clothes. wear comfy tennis shoes and double knot them before jumping. don't wear any jewelry. and take everything out of your pockets. also if you catch the bug and want to jump more or get liscensed: -waring: shameless plug- my home DZ Skydive Houston has great instructors and is a really fun place to learn/ jump.diamonds are a dawgs best friend
skymama 37 #9 January 26, 2009 What he said, and if it's cold you might want to wear some tight gloves. half-a-greek 0 #12 January 27, 2009 Quoteremember to keep your legs up when coming in for landing. dont drop them down until you are totally stopped. hearing bones snap is not nice. hahaha, don't scare the poor girl, let her be naive for the first jump! All of that stuff is learned during the first jump course when you learn about mals and stuff, lol. Your first jump is going to be amazing! and be warned, it's extremely addicting! Make sure you get video, the money is well worth it! Welcome to the sport, blue ones.
without_fears 0 #13 January 27, 2009 I plan on paying even more attention in the class now =o) I am trying to figure out if I am crazy or not for not being actually scared, but just nervous. I can't wait for the view. I imagine the fall before the parachute is open will be the most fun.
without_fears 0 #14 January 28, 2009 Does anyone have any input on these facilities? Skydivelsvegas.com or sincityskydiving.com? Any information would be great. I've read their FAQ'a, and both sounds perfectly fine, but I want to have the best experience possible.
SkyPainter 0 #15 January 29, 2009 Hi! Actually, if it is cold enough to wear gloves, wear gloves that are a bit loose, and ALSO wear Latex Gloves (like at the doctors office - you can get them in a pharmacy or any paint store) *UNDER* your real gloves! That 'vapor barrier' will keep your digits warm - maybe even sweating - while you wear them! This small tip comes from someone who skydives in New England, AND teaches wilderness Outdoor Survival. :) Breath, and ENJOY! (PS: Get the video!) No_Phear 0 #16 January 30, 2009 Quote Anybody have any advice for a first time jumper that will make it an even better experience? What's up Lacy.... I usually don't reply to greets, but I liked your (nick)name anyway the only advice I would have to make it more exciting IMHO is to skip the tandem and go AFF. But either way it's going to be a blast! Be carefull, the biggest danger is that extreme uncontrollable adiction that may result Tact is not my specialty..... without_fears 0 #17 January 30, 2009 =) I feel so special. My family and husbands rule is I can not go alone at first. And really, I want to just enjoy the view. I already plan on going after and trying to the AFF though. I can't wait. Everyone here is being annoyed because of how obsessed I already am. =oP
Megatron 0 #18 February 1, 2009 not annoyed here..I love your enthusiasm! To answer your question about the dropzone you can look them up on here..just go to dropzones and do a search, youll find a ton of peer reviews, which is what really counts. without_fears 0 #19 February 6, 2009 Hi everyone =) Quick question, if you wear eye glasses, what do you do with them for the skydive? can you wear them?
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #20 February 6, 2009 Yes, you can wear them. I use a tie strap on them to keep from losing them. They make goggles big enough to go over most glasses. I wear those too."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
