lomme023 0 #1 October 15, 2008 Hey my name is Kaleb and i am addicted to skydiving. I have 27 jumps now and made my very first jump (tandem) almost exactly a year from now I pretty much live a shitty college life being extremely poor and stressed all the time, and just hating school. and on that note i live paycheck by paycheck to jump on the weekends. I moved out of my college house located by the U of M and moved back in with my parents this semester to buy a skydiving rig for the next season ( cant wait to move back in the house next semester), I spend way too much time on here looking at gear i cant afford, but its all good b/c my left over school loans of the semester, that shit is on its way. a long with some money i have been storing away. but anyways all my friends think i am incredibly fucking stupid for "wasting" my money just to jump out of a plane, and that used to bother me quite a bit b/c they are my friends you know. but i came to a conclusion to fuck them (to an extent). i have learned that skydivers are a rare breed and no matter how hard you try to explain this to your best friend(s) or the guys you played football with in highschool, or even your girlfriend...."they will never understand". and i have concluded this based on everyone who i have talked to who has been in this sport... well that has been my life thus far as a skydiver. I am excited that i have my "A" now and i am stoked to learn, grow and excel in this sport. I want to learn and take in everything i can about skydiving, and of course just party after sunset well there was my introduction, and if anyone knows of any cool laid back DZ's (in a warmer climate bc i live in mn) that are accepting of fun jumpers, and know people who would be willing to lend a hand in helping me improve like even just giving me tips on the ground about petty things . I have already learned what seems like an infinite amount from skydive twincities which i consider my my 2nd home and my other family. but like i said before i am always still willing to learn from other people. Although I've never jumped at Hollister, I've heard nothing but good things about them. My home DZ is Lodi, "open 365 days a year" as Bill would say. Good weather all year long, and lots of really awesome jumpers that know a ton. On the weekends a plane will run only for fun jumpers, so come on down! skymama 37 #4 October 15, 2008 Welcome to the forums! As for a friendly dz in a warm climate, I think you'll be hard pressed not to find a friendly dz with skydivers who like to help out or offer suggestions. Just make sure you listen to the people who really have skills and not the ones who just think they have skills. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

mr_music11 0 #6 October 15, 2008 Wooo hooo! Congrats on the A! Yes, you will find that some of your friends and family "get it" and others just won't... oh well, theres some interesting threads on this site that adress that very thing!!! Bottom line is... if you're happy skydiving.. then do it.. as Ive read from one of the posters.. I'd rather die trying to live than to live and wonder what it would be like to try. As mentioned.. Lodi, CA is GREAT! for weather. Also not to far from there is Davis, CA and also Lincoln,CA... all within an hour of each other.. if you stayed in Sac you can get to each of them in about 30>40 min depending on traffic. I have gone to Lodi and Davis.. would call either one my home DZ.. lots of friendly folks! ready to help with your learning.. come out where the skies are mostly blue.. and the times are always good. till then...continued success! If flying is piloting a plane.. then swimming is driving a boat. I know why birds sing.. I skydive.
