Had my 1st Tandem, ready for AFF Ground School

Recommended Posts

Hey folks, wanted to say hi!

Had a surprise jump for my 30th bday this past weekend and fell in love. The sense of conquering my fears, and the serenity of being airborne was so overwhelming and wonderful.

I'm ready to take my first class, although still wrestling a bit with the risk vs reward, I owe to myself to get educated and jump at least once more. I'm going to take it one class at a time. I'm so excited, and have been thinking about it everyday, the 27th can't come fast enough!

Any words of wisdom you guys can share that helped you through the first few classes?

Welcome to skydiving.

I'll post here what I've posted time and time again-

LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTORS!! it is the single most important thing you can do.

Ask questions, even if you think they are dumb. Instructors need to know that you do or do not understand.

If you need additional practice/help from your instructor, don't be afraid to ask them.

All the best-

Well one of the folks who put it together will be at ground school with me, the other is a bit nervous for me (my gf of 5 years). But as she said, she hasn't seen me that happy in a long time.

The fear that i have to get over is the landings, I'm ready to absorb as much info as possible and put my trust in my instructors.

Hey Waniac !

Youre post sounds like exactly where I am at, just had my first jump last weekend - booked to start AFF on the 24th :) Also 30 :)

Have been totally distracted since the first dive, spent the last week reading and surfing the web trying to learn as much as I can before heading out to the dropzone for AFF.

I guess its just my way of dealing with the aprehension, but when AFF kicks off - I will try and ignore what I think I know and just absorb everything I can from the pros

I understand what you mean about dealing with the risk vs reward question - but it feels good to know there are so many experienced punters out there still enjoying the sport safely after thousands of jumps

It seems how safe you are is really up to you, your attitude and being willing to learn from others experiences and advice

I am looking forward to the biggest and most fun challenge of my life !

Good luck hope to catch you on the forums !!
