Certification here I come. Guys, what are the average costs of gear rentals? 5K for buying your own system is high for a complete newbie like myself. Any suggestions are most welcome! THANKS! I don't live in the USA so i can't talk about average price of gear rentals but as a new jumper my advice would be to spend your cash on jumps and not worry about buying gear for the first 40 or 50. Buy a helmet, goggles, and other peripheral gear before and ask around your DZ and check the classifieds and buy good second hand gear. Enjoy yourself! mrbiceps 0 #3 August 25, 2008 stuff the 5k buddy. have a look on the classifieds section or ebay. i got a 91 model rig with only 120 jumps on it for $1000. jumped it on the weekend and its sweet. sure saves hiring the gear. cant disagree with you more buddy. in australia hire gear is $35 per jump. do that for 50 jumps and $1750 later you could have brought your own rig.
