vbdl 0 #3 May 14, 2004 Yes, because I want to buy the harness with the reserve and the cypress of my friend. But rerading the main canopy, I need at least a 170 sq.ft.

gus 1 #5 May 14, 2004 No! I used to have an Atom 0 with a Spectre 150 in it and that was quite snug enough. A 170 in an 00 is asking alot and even if you shoehorn it in there you're surely risking deforming the container or a whole load of other potential problems. Bottom line is that an 00 is not designed to hold a 170. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
xpug 0 #6 May 14, 2004 I think you will need an 0 as well. My Electra 170 packs a lot smaller than the Spectre 170 (386 cu inches vs 455), and my Atom 0 still isn't exactly flush when its packed. For further reference, the My-SkyWorld online shop has canopy and container sizing charts. It shows that that the Spectre 170 has a pack volume of 455 cubic inches, but the Atom 00 can only take up to 360. Container sizes Canopy sizes Going on Gus' comment, these do seem pretty accurate - the Spectre 150 (370 cu in) sounds like a similar fit in an 0 as my Electra. dragon2 2 #7 May 14, 2004 The 00 is made for a 115/128 reserve (why not get the 128?) and a ~135 - 120 ZP main. See http://www.parachutes-de-france.com/us/parachutes/catalogue/cont_intro.htm. A hybrid 170 is a tight fit (Electra, Merit). I had a new Spectre 150 in my 00 for a while, couldn't pack it myself (at least within say 2 hours ). Now I have a Spectre/Tri 135 in there, much better. ciel bleu, Saskia
mr2mk1g 10 #8 May 14, 2004 You sound like a new jumper who's seen a barging in the classifieds and wants to know if it'll work. Please talk to instructors about the necessity for having a reserve that will not kill you - ie one of a similar size to your main. Go and chat to someone about the sort of requirements you will have in a new rig - then you can go looking into classifieds. If you "need" a 170 main then you "need" a 170 reserve. Cloggy 1 #9 May 14, 2004 Well, it's all been said... I put the Sabre2 170 in a Atom 0 without too much hassle. But this is definitely at the limit, stretching things a bit (literally) ;) Actually, I don't have to pull very hard to close the container, but you can see it's more than it's designed for. Spectre has smaller packing volume, but to put it in a 00?? I doubt you'll get it in in the first place. And if you get it in, you want to demonstrate your impeccable packing skills (you'll need those...) for the next few hundred jumps??
