gonzalesna 0 #8 November 23, 2006 QuoteYea, i want to make sure i enjoy it first then think about doing AFF certification. Hey, I did a tandem on my first, and I think it's the way to go. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I did a second tandem as soon as I hit the ground. Level 1 AFF has a lot of learning involved. I think everyone should be required to do a tandem first. This way, they can enjoy their first jump a lot more instead of focusing on not messing up so they can move on to level 2. If I had done level 1 off the bat, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed learning the basics as much. Tandems allow you to just enjoy the ride... that's ultimately what skydiving's all about. But enough preaching... especially from someone who doesn't have a lot of jumps on the books. Welcome to the forum and to the skies. HAVE A BLAST!!! Be sure to get video of your first jump. Remember, you only have one first time for anything! Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
FlyNHawaiian 0 #9 November 24, 2006 I want to do it soon but i like to enjoy it even more when its warm out. I think im doing it in May for a friends b-day which will be his 3rd time. I have 4 other friends going as well and their first time but i think im the only one thinkin about getting aff certified. Im sure ill like it and i really want to look into making a career/hobby out of it!

Amazon 7 #12 November 25, 2006 EGAD... where are you actually located.. DO NOT call SKYRIDE....its one of their SCAM sites.. AFTER you pay your money you will find out what DZ they will send you to....I would bet that would be ASC near Atlanta. There is a VERY long thread abou the abuses by the owners of that.....SKYRIDE If you are close to Wilmington NC.. there are VERY good DZ's very close to you... Clcik on the dropzones tab up there at the top of the page.....and enter NC.. you will find good places.
FlyNHawaiian 0 #13 November 25, 2006 Ok thanks for looking out. ill check for places around here.
Amazon 7 #14 November 25, 2006 The Dropzone list for NC is a good one... http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/North_America/United_States/North_Carolina/index.html You might post a thread in General Skydiving asking about training.... I know there are people here on DIZZIE from Raeford... and I am sure the other DZ's are represented as well.

hymandd732 0 #16 December 9, 2006 I first visited Hawaii in 1944 on my way to Iwo Jima. I worked for the government at the time and was paid $66 a month plus room and board. To tell you the truth I hated to leave Hawaii aboard an LST bound for Tokyo via Iwo Jima and Okinawa. I would love to return but am afraid that it is far too commercial now and I would miss the accomondations I enjoyed 62 years ago. Now I jump in the Northeast and Fl. It is cold and miserable in the Northeast seven months out of 12. I don't think Fl. is a bargain in the winter months, that is Jan., and Feb. I like warm evenings and like sunset jumps. I am not an early riser due to the fact that I enjoy night sports which keep me awake most nights. Ah! youth; where is thy sting? Anyhow I just made my 80th birthday jump at Cross Keys. Sad news; a tandem fatality the day before my birthday jump. I have jumped for 41 years and will probably give it up on my 90th birthday. This equipment is getting just too damn expensive. I just paid near $6000 for an Aerodyne rig with Cypres II. Takes a lot out of my Social Security check.Freefall Hall
