hi i'm martin 21 and i took up skydiving back in may this year so far i've done 70 jumps and it just gets better and better. i always thought the fear would go after 20-30 jumps but still after 70 jumps my heart rate goes up and the fear kicks in but soon as i jump out i'm fine. does this still happen to those people who lots of jumps or will it go 1 day. i've had no bad jumps YET but still the shit creeps out my arse on every lift. Welcome, Martin!
You have joined the elite class of people that find solace, adventure, friendship, and pleasure in .....leaving airworthy and properly operating airplanes in flight and falling to earth like Large Heavy Rocks!! That should scare anybody with a functioning brain !! Seriously, I still get amped up sometimes just before the door, and I deep breathe and think about my diveplan, landing plan, and what a good rig I have on my back. The jitters leave, and I can enjoy the last minute or so of the airplane ride and then the EXIT!!! It is natural to have a great measure of respect for the risks that we take, and if that manifests itself in a little fear now and then, I think it will keep you healthy and enjoying jumping for many years to come. I find that the more training I get the less jittery I am near exit time too. If you haven't yet taken a canopy flying class, sign up and take one as soon as possible. It is the best money I have spent in a while!

Welcome to the forums dude!

For me personally the fear does abate somewhat and is replaced by a feeling of awe and excitement when i am about to clim out the plane. I do have a healthy respect for the sport though, after all we are throwing ourselves at a planet!

Take care
PJ
