Bradley77 0 #1 July 18, 2006 I say my first jump but actually I did two static line jumps back in 1979! This past weekend I drove down to Adrenaline Air Sports/Carolina Skydiving in Jonesville, NC for my first tandem ever. The guys at the dropzone were great and made me feel very relaxed. The four tandems before me were all women, so being a guy I sort of had to jump too....lol. The jump was a blast....freefall is fantastic! After I got down I decided to do a second jump. We got to about 9500 ft and had to turn back because bad weather had come in. The trip back down in the plane through the weather was wild....actually got airborne in the plane when we hit some turbulence! I'm going back this coming weekend to do the second tandem and possibly the first jump course on Sun.! Man, when I jumped it did seem a bit rushed . You get out on the little plateform as a tandem and then "ready, set, arch!" and you are gone! I sort of feel like I would like to get out there, set myself, take a few moments to steady my nerves, relax a bit, etc....lol. But I can see where you just can't hang around outside the plane at 11K ft until you are ready to go...lol Again, had a great time at Carolina Skydiving. Looking forward to going back this weekend!Damn, this is fun!
raggdoll 0 #2 July 19, 2006 Congratulations and welcome back to the air! The view had to be fantastic. I've been that way before, but never skydiving. What brought you back to the sport? Blue skies!
Bradley77 0 #3 July 19, 2006 My 2 SL's were back in college and I didn't have the money to continue. I work in a small town of about 1200 people. Those at work were all gung ho to do some whitewater rafting but when it came down to it they all found excuses not to do it. So I thought about things I wanted to do...something exciting, something I knew the others would likely find an excuse not to do even though they would all say they want to do it....and I knew I would do it....lol. Perhaps not the best reason but in reality I knew I wanted to try it again. I feel like I am on the fence about doing the AAF. I'll just take it one jump at a time. I will go back to do the tandem II this weekend though. After that first step of the platform I enjoyed it....but that first step is difficult!Damn, this is fun! Guest #5 July 19, 2006 AFF is really great! Having just graduated, its a lot easier now to take that step off the plane! I'd do about 2 AFF levels if your unsure. After AFF 1, you've just gotten out of class, have a bazillion things going through your mind. AFF 2 is a lot more relaxed and easy. Then after 2, it's all downhill from there! Cheers! jgambrell 0 #6 July 19, 2006 I too am looking at getting back into the wonderful world of skydiving. I have 11 jumps logged and understand that you need about 25 or so jumps to get your license. Is there an expiration on my logged jumps? or do I start from the begining. 1992 was my last jump.
Bradley77 0 #7 July 24, 2006 Did my second tandem this past Sat. Had a blast. Sunday was AFF ground school followed by my first AFF jump with my own canopy! Had a great time. I felt comfortable in the air and was altitude aware. I did three prcatice pulls/throws and went very well. But at the end when I actually did the pull I didn't arch and sort of bent over some. Just have to work on that. This is fun!!Damn, this is fun!
SmilingPhoenix 0 #8 July 25, 2006 Congrats on passing AFF1! That's awesome! I'm glad you got to actually do it - and even more glad you didn't have to do it in turbulence! I don't think I want the challenge of bad weather when I'm still trying to figure out what to do with blue skies! So, is next week level 2?! JeanBecause life is an adventure - it may not be the one you planned, but then it wouldn't be an adventure!
