Dustyke 0 #1 July 3, 2006 Hello Everyone, My name is Steven, 19 years old and living in Belgium! Right now I'm a 100% WHUFFO, I wanna know everything about skydiving so plz, don't kill me for asking so much! :) In a few weeks I'll start my AFF-training. Problem in our family is money! I didn't finnish my school, don't have a driver license, so it's very hard for me to find work but don't worry! I WILL find it! Next week I'm about to take a look @ the local dropzone in Zwartberg! And hopefully I can tell you all about my first jump in a few weeks! Greetings, Dustyke P.S.: It's me in picture :p
matthias 0 #2 July 3, 2006 Welcome to the forums bro. In my personal opinion tho a 'whuffo' is someone who has not jumped and never will due to their attitude. Those who are curious about the sport, but haven't gotten to jump due to circumstances out of their control (transportation, financial situation, etc) shouldn't fall into this catagory. Before starting your AFF, you might look up these 3 books that have been helpful to getting me familiar with understanding the sport: The Skydiver's Handbook by Dan Poynter & Dan Turoff Mental Training for Skydiving and Life by John Derosalia JUMP! by Tom Buchanon Easy to read and comprehensive. I wish I had read em before taking level 1, but they'll help me out when the weather finally permits for level 2 tho. Dustyke 0 #5 July 4, 2006 QuoteWelcome to the forums! I was thinking the same but I won't buy a rig on my own when I'm new to the sport! And I really don't know after how many jumps I should buy a rig on my own! Maybe you can tell me? Greetins
skymama 37 #6 July 4, 2006 I had my rig by about 40 jumps. I don't know about over there but in the states, the daily rig rental is about $60. The cost of a used rig with an AAD is somewhere between $3000-$4000. On top of that, you're going to need to get an altimeter, helmet and jumpsuit plus you'll have to pay for each jump. It's definitely not a cheap sport! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Dustyke 0 #7 July 4, 2006 Over here, it's €9/jump for rig rental!
