gpflyer 0 #1 June 30, 2006 June 27th was my brother's 20th birthday. Forever now I have been dying to fly, so I called him up about a month ago and asked him if he would want to go for his birthday. Of course he said yes! We are both adrenaline junkies! The 2 hr. drive was nice, we were able to get pumped up for what was to come. Oh Boy! We had no clue what an awesome experience it was going to be! We both had the time of our life and have already scheduled a second jump! Soooooooooooooo Excited! Anyway, since we are newbies we have not quite learned all of the lingo and details so I was wondering if I could get some input. After a couple more tandems what is our next step? I have heard of staticline and AFF. What would you recommend next? Can't wait to fly again! Tricia - gpflyer_________________________________________ "The best things in life are DANGEROUS!" matthias 0 #2 June 30, 2006 Immediately after my first tandem, I signed up for AFF. I knew skydiving was my newfound passion and Skydive Houston (to my understanding) only offered AFF. I've never done static-line, but from the impression I get, (and correct me if I am wrong) you dont experience the 60 seconds of freefall. For anyone wanting to be a liscenced skydiver they should go ahead and get right on with the student program so that the jumps count toward the recommended 25 for the A liscence. Hope this helps, and welcome to the sport :)_________________________________________ trance/house mixes for download: www.djmattm.com
gpflyer 0 #3 June 30, 2006 I saw the student rates on their website and I was wondering what that was. So, you just become a student and then you can do the AFF with your instructor or alone or what? _________________________________________ "The best things in life are DANGEROUS!" skymama 37 #4 June 30, 2006 Welcome to the forums! Here's a link that you might find helpful concerning how to start out in skydiving. While many people did just fine in the past with static line, I think the majority of people in the states start with AFF. Read the link and then let us know if you still have questions. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
AggieDave 6 #5 June 30, 2006 Dude, did you take a picture of your video while it was playing on the TV? That's one way to do it. I'm glad you're so pumped that you're doing fun stuff like taking pictures that way. That's cool.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." gpflyer 0 #6 June 30, 2006 Yes, I did take a picture of my TV!!!! I wanted a way to show people without having to have a TV around. Hey, it works! I am going to get the VHS converted to DVD so then I can freeze frame and get the pics that way. They should be a lot better! _________________________________________ "The best things in life are DANGEROUS!"
gpflyer 0 #7 June 30, 2006 Hey, thanks for the link! It was very helpful! I am going to check and see if the guys I go with do AFF. I hope so because I think that will be the best for getting experience._________________________________________ "The best things in life are DANGEROUS!"
