shootme 0 #1 April 6, 2006 Hi! My name is Julia but everyone I know (a tleast in England) calls me Jules. I do have a confession...I have never jumped before. But I do intend to give it a go. The only problem is that I do have BIG issues with accelerating speed...see my point??? How can I overcome this panic? I really, really do want to skydive!! Also...I met this guy a year ago who has been parashuting in the army for 3 years but we never exchanged numbers. So maybe someone here knows this guy from Luton who's name is Jim? He is around 25 with dark hair and worked as a builder when we met. I would be sooooo happy if anyone could help me find him, that I am willing to take on a challenge for a jump and even let some smirking photographer show the world what real fear and panic looks like!!! Amazon 7 #2 April 6, 2006 Not to worry Jules.... when you exit the aircraft you are already moving forward at 80 MPH plus( depends on the airplane) so you never really feel that acceleration, you just transition from forward motion to downward motion and you dont really accelerate all that mush as you " come off the hill" Now if you do a Balloon Jump .. THERE you will feel it because you are esentially standing still when you fall off of it. NOW.. if you want to look at some acceleration.. go to http://hangout.no/speednews Its the official website for Speed Skydiving .. we have been known to accelerate to over 300 MPH

I know there's a wind tunnel in England, you should go check it out so you can see what freefall is like. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

shootme 0 #5 April 6, 2006 Thanks skymama! As I wrote to Amazon, a big thanks for making me feel relieved and violently happy, that it's actually possible for me to have a go and jump. I will of course check the windtunnel out and hope it's not to far from London. How about when you are releasing your parashoot? How does that feel...Does it kill your speed really fast? Thanks again! Jules

MrBounce 0 #8 April 10, 2006 Hi Jules, I'm a UK jumper too, and yes, we're spoiled with two windtunnels here in the yUK now - woo hoo Check them both out as I've heard good things about both. Personally I've only used the Bodyflight one, PM me if you want more info on that tunnel. Jumping-wise, find your local dropzone and talk to the instructors there. As everyone says, jumping from a plane doesn't give you that stomach dropping, churning feeling, you just feel the breeze Good luck with your jumping career if you do decide to take it up. Gavin Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. If you don't take it out and use it, its going to rust.
