m11sic 0 #1 March 6, 2006 So I did my first jump yesterday- InsaNe!!!! Wow, the slight jitters about jumping out of the plane and then actually trying to remember what I needed to do to pass my level one was intense. I fully enjoyed my flying experience. I landed a bit hard and scraped up my knuckles and hands pretty good, so does any1 have any tips on landing? This is supposed to be an intro post so I'll tell you a bit about myself. I'm 23, just started jumping. Live out in the LA, CA area and drive about 2 hours to jump =P. If any1 ever wants to meet up and hang out I'm always open to making new friends. Alright enough of that crap, Enjoy the jumps and I'll see you around!

peaceskydiver 0 #3 March 7, 2006 Awesome-well not the landing atleast. I always make sure that when I am about to land I am looking at he horizon with my knees and ankles together and bent in ready mode for plf-that way as soon as i feel on my toes touching something on the ground, I automatically PLF and roll it out. Works everytime-NEVER LOOK AT THE GROUND WHEN COMING IN-i hurt my tailbone pretty good doing that. I will be out in the LA area during July 4th weekend-would love to meet you out for a jump- I am a student-hopefully by then I will have my "A". I am 23 myself and live in NY. I do have my plane tickets to LA already, so E-mail me if you want to meet up when I am there. (my twin and I are going to LA together-she is also a skydiver-u can meet her too!) Hope to hear from you-PEACE!!!! If you check out my profile, tells u a bit more about me :-) "From Wings Came Flight"
skydivermom 0 #4 March 7, 2006 Glad you joined us in skydiving as well as in the forums! I'm not qualified to give advice, but I'll tell you what works for me. I would always flare too early because I would look at the ground and get MAJOR ground rush. An instructor told me that when I get the "urge" to flare...say "oh crap" twice an then flare. It works like a charm General Waiver: ALWAYS defer to your instructors.Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:

pippa 0 #6 March 7, 2006 Hi, congrats on your 1st jump. Ive only got 42 jumps so am in no way qualified to tell you what to do especially as Ive had a few bad ones myself. But definately DONT look straight down, the ground rush is very confusing. I flared too high on jump no.5, thinking i was closer to the ground than i was, and landed on my knees on the tarmac runway after dropping 10ft.I was told to look out at where i intend to land, easier said than done at the start but you'll soon get the hang of it. Your instructor should be giving you radio help for the 1st few jumps. Good luck and happy landings!

L.O. 0 #8 March 12, 2006 Hey Joe, welcome to the world of skydiving. It is awesome here all the time, more fun then most can handle. I have not made a jump without a pair of glove on since I had about 100 jumps. They have saved my hands many times jumpmastering, doing CRW and a few landings. You can also find a sharp edge on the aircraft from time to time. I love to come here and read the posts from new people like you. I can almost feel your fire through the internet. I could probably feel it, if my dial up connection speed was above 19.2 k. A good PLF does look kinda geeky, but if it keeps your body in tact, what the hell. So besides the knuckle incident how did the rest of the skydive go? What A/C did you jump from? I would love to here about your experience. Again welcome. YahooHPDBs, I hate those guys.
