sparky6542 0 #1 March 3, 2006 I'M HOOKED!!! I did my first tandem jump at the end of last season not knowing what to expect, and within a month i was doing another. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life. Unfortunately i live in the midwest where i cant jump year round. Now all i can do is think about how great is was and can't wait until i get up there again. I have spent all winter trying to rearrange things in my life so i can jump all summer. All my friends think i'm nuts for totally changing my lifestyle in order to accommodate for the great sport. I am going to take the aff course in the spring at chicagoland skydiving center beings that is where i did my tandems at and i like the vibe there...i have also looked at skydive chicago and a couple other dz's and feedback about these dz's or any others in the midwest would be great. see ya up there.....BLUE SKIES!!! oh yeah, if anyone can offer any pointers on my first jump that would rock

Peej 0 #4 March 3, 2006 Welcome to the sport and to the forums! You're not alone in your desire to change your lifestyle to be able to jump, i'm sure every skydiver has modified their lives in some way or another to make room for the sport. Good luck with your first AFF and stay safe. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
Dougiefresh 0 #5 March 3, 2006 Both Chicagoland and SDC are great dropzones, and you'll get a good education at either. You may also want to check out the East Troy Parachute Club near Milwaukee. They also have a small dz vibe, and fly a PAC (a kick-ass little turbine). Welcome to the skies!Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
L.O. 0 #6 March 3, 2006 Hey Rick, welcome to the greatest sport on the planet. I agree with Doug, all the places he mentioned are great. It all depends on what your after. SC and C-land are the bigger more professional places. East troy is different in that it is smaller, giving them the ability to be a little more homee. I have dealt with all these DZs and found them to be very well run and lots of fun. I am from a small club, so I am very biased towards East Troy. I like the smaller DZ feel, it is easier to make friends and more fun to just show up and jump at. I have only been to these places as a experienced skydiver so you should continue to fish for some student views. Once you get through AFF, I would like to invite you up to Skydive Wissota in Chippewa Falls WI.. We jump all year round non stopHPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
