skyshimas 0 #1 January 13, 2006 Hi, everyone i have read this site for a quite a bit of time now but have never tried to write anything. So tonight i decided to introduce myself i have 54 jumps so far and was hooked after my first static line jump back in 2003 if i remember well(should check my log book). I made my first 10 jumps in Lithuania (all static line) and then moved to US. After only couple months in US when i got a job and had some money in a pocket i went to DZ and spent them all my parents were furious(i made 2 tandem and 7 aff jumps) and i did bad on my jumps so i had to stop-because i was only a poor student next season i hadn't jumped at all and saved some money and finally i made it this year(05) went through AFF-now i am the happiest person on earth BUT there's a problem i want my own rig that i could jump more! till the beginning of the season i might save aprx 1500 but this ain't gonna help a lot-any suggestion? thank you all for reading this "short" introduction and the possible solutions to a well known problem

rocketdog 0 #3 January 14, 2006 hey sky ~ i know how much it SUCKS to have no money! i refused to put my rig on credit card; i had 200+ jumps before i had my OWN complete gear i gradually would save $ and buy 1) an offer that was too good to pass on or 2) the most necessary items first (ex: bought a reserve/container first 'cause you can always demo main canopies or bum one :) honestly, it helps to network & have friends who are skydivers. being on good terms/friendly with others @ the dropzone, sometimes they'll know of an unused canopy you can borrow or where you could get a cheap, used rig, etc. P.S. you say you may only have $1,500?! i put my rig together for about $1,100..... so it's possible!!! GOOD LUCK! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
