HEy new here and ALREADY an ADDICT

Recommended Posts

Well hmmm where do i even begin? how bout alittle about my self... My names Kyle, 19, and im attending a junior college for god knows what major... I've been attracted to adrenaline related activities, motocross, wrestling (not the kind on tv...) and last year for christmas i got a free tandem jump from my parentals, ive always wanted to go sky diving, and as many people on this site have already stated, it was meant to be a one time deal... YEAH RIGHT...

Needless to say i went back again, for another tandem (since my funding only allowed me to use a lame coupon for another tandem...)

The exact moment i left freefall and the canopy opened, i knew i wanted to live in freefall as often as possible, nothing comes close to the insane feeling of being attached to nothing...

THEN the unthinkable happened, after nearly 5 months of rehab from a shoulder dislocation during my senior year of wrestling i re-dislocated it again, but with far worse results, so my funding stopped, and i was forced to stay at home for nearly 3 months following the most painful surgery i have ever endured...

Now that i am finally working and healthy again, im looking into not only sky-diving as a sorce of recreation but as an actual career, ive been surfing the net and looking at different schools for skydiving, found one in new zealand, a couple in europe...

BUT for all those Career Sky-divers (which includes any career related to... not just actual instructors), HOW would you suggest going about entering such a field?

Anywho, HELLO to everyone else, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Welcome to the blue skies :) You can do a search for threads (like in the Gear & Rigging forum) about making a living in skydiving.

But do give Bonnie (GravityGirl) a call once in a while, she'll cheer you up when the skies are (literally) gray, and steer you in the right direction about gear.

(Thanks for the chat last week Bonnie. :)

You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.

Isn't that's located one of the world's busiest tandem dropzones? Three skydiving companies (including this one) located at the same airport? I heard from somebody that a freeflyer tourist somewhere at that dropzone got asked something to the tune of "Need a job?" by the staff because he had a camera helmet!

If this is the one, that might just be the easiest location in the world to get a skydiving career at. I think. Lucky you if you live near the world's busiest tandem dropzone (more daily tandem jumps than Perris and Eloy I heard!). Three separate skydiving companies running off the same airport.

I leave it to others and your instructors for further information... However, I have heard from more than one source so that New Zealand apparently seems to be one of the easiest places in the world to get a full time paying skydiving career at. It's not easy in many parts of the world...
