HorrorWriter 0 #1 June 5, 2005 Just got into the sport a few weeks ago. Currently accomplishing my AFF through my home DZ at Santa Barbara. June is a bad month for fog here on the coast, so I'm learning to be very patient. I look forward to meeting you all.... Tim

HorrorWriter 0 #3 June 5, 2005 Thanks for the welcome! Almost did get hurt playing air hockey when a flying puck came screaming at my head
Peej 0 #4 June 6, 2005 Hey Tim, Welcome to the nuthouse! It felt like it took me forever to get through AFF (like six months) but it was well worth it in the end, stick with it and good luck! Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

HorrorWriter 0 #7 June 13, 2005 Holy poop on a stick! Saturday: fogged in here, requiring a 2 hour drive to another airport. Made 3 jumps but only passed 2 levels. 2 hour drive back at nightfall had me home at 10pm. Sunday: right back a the DZ for 9am fog delay. Eventually got 3 jumps in and the graduation dive of my AFP program! Learned so much with consecutive jumps....probably more how NOT to do things, but I'll continue to learn:-) Seemed like every other landing was horrible. Note to self...I'll probably want to bring the following items on my next day at the DZ (dry clothes, gloves...one of those protective Sumo outfits kids use at carnivals...and maybe even a map and a compass Glad to reach and complete Level 7 Exhausted.... Peej 0 #8 June 13, 2005 Congratulations dude!An instructor friend of mine has always said that you can tell what kind of a skydiver someone is going to be by how many times you'll find them sitting on the DZ waiting out the weather. Sounds like you're comitted already, nice! Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
HorrorWriter 0 #9 June 13, 2005 Thanks, man.....yeah, I've grown to love it rather quickly. My wife even made a ton of food for everyone while we waited. She got me a new altimeter (which kind of got scratched up a bit during one landing) for an early father's day gift and my son is raring to jump at the whopping age of 12. Sounds like it might turn into a family affair. Peace, Tim
Peej 0 #10 June 14, 2005 That's awesome if the rest of your family support you like that! Unfortunately this sport has come between a lot of relationships in it's time but it sounds like you're good to go. WRT your son, a good buddy of mine who grew up on the DZ was packing for his old man and his mates at 10 years old, sounds like it's going to be in your little one's blood too. Take care PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
HorrorWriter 0 #11 June 14, 2005 Thanks, PJ. I never thought of that. Packing would be a great way to keep him involved. The other day he loved just going pick up the tandems and was even asking how he could help around the DZ....the only time I think I ever seen him WANT to pick up
Peej 0 #12 June 14, 2005 No worries Tim I wish i'd got invloved in the sport at a young age and when i have youngins of my own they'll be involved as soon as they're ready. BTW, your comment about him wanting to pick up made me LOL Laters PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
