Over the Fear, Finally!

Recommended Posts

:D I just wanted to say hey! I'm just soo happy, I have finally overcome the fear of leaving the airplane! When I went to go jump yesterday, I was getting ready to do Jump #20.. Due to Military deployment schedules, my last jump (#19) had been almost a month ago, on jump 19 I was still terified of leaving the plane, I remember just thinking "why do I do this to myself" every time the plane took off but I refused to give it up because I loved it once I was out, but I was always the guy that they had to yell "JUMP!" at before I'd leave the door I was standing in.. I figured it out, and mabey this can help someone else who is feeling the same way (I assume I'm not the only one, mabey I am). All I know is that it really sucked because I was also just doing belly to earth flying every jump, no flips no nothing since AFF. I decided a week ago what I was gonna do on my next jump, and I kept thinking it over in my mind, it was gonna be a exit accompanied by a "YEAHH!!!!" and a nice long scream to start the jump off (nice stress reliever). Then it was backflips till 6,000 feet, pull at 5,000 and try some front riser manuvers for the first time.. I got myself SO excited about the jump there was no room for fear, in the plane I was just smiling thinking about what was coming up.. No sweatty palms, nothing, and then I did it, screaming, laughing everything during the freefall.. I feel as though I am finally FREE and it is great. If your scared, just get yourself SO excited that you cant be scared anymore, it's soo much fun! Exit and just scream a bit, it feels pretty good and you might also get a good laugh out of yourself while you fall 120mph!

Anyway, I'm a new guy, just wanted to say HI

I hear ya. I just finished AFF and got my first 5 solo jumps in this weekend. :D!!

On the first 5 levels I was a bit uptight about the exit, trying to make sure I was doing it correctly, etc. and it resulted in being tense at the beginning of freefall as well. It was a whole different world on level 6, the first no contact exit. The only "step" was get out of the plane and get stable. I was so much more relaxed it was amazing.
