monkeyhippy 0 #1 August 30, 2004 OK, I did my very first jump last Friday (tandem). It was AMAZING and I loved every second of it, no nervousness at all. EXCEPT by the time we landed I was so nauseous! Same feeling I get on big roller coaster drops, but of course in the sky it lasts a looong time. I want to jump again, but not with that feeling. Does it go away as you get used to jumping?
skymama 37 #2 August 30, 2004 Welcome to the fourms! I'm surprised you had that feeling like you were on a roller coaster. Most people don't feel any kind of drop and say it's like sticking your head out of a car window. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
monkeyhippy 0 #3 August 30, 2004 It was just the queasiness of being on a rollercoaster... and only after the chute opened. During freefall I was happy as a clam!
MarkM 0 #4 August 30, 2004 It's not that uncommon for tandems to get nausea. The harness might be too tight or you can get nauseous if the tandem master makes a lot of turns. I did a tandem once and also got nauseous. If you learn to skydive on your own it shouldn't be an issue. The only times I get nauseous is if I make a lot of turns under canopy while looking at the ground. So I just avoid doing that.
