Hello from Thunder Bay, Ontario

Recommended Posts

Hello all............

Did my first static line jump July 2003...........

I talked 3 friends into taking the course and doing at least one jump.....
I didn't get scared/nervous until my buddy was hanging off the wing spar.........when he let go.........i got real green, real quick... the jump master grabbed me, slid me over in front of him and started getting my pilot shute out....
Before I knew what was happening i was hanging from the wing spar......couldn't believe i was hanging there.....
Before I knew what was happening the jump master was prying off fingers and the pilot was doing a wing wave.....poooooooooooof i was falling away from the plane....
When canopy opened , I was hooked...........
Did three more jumps the next day and when they came back a month or so later I did another 4...

I wish there was a DZ in thunder bay....myself and a few friends are planning on a week long trip to the Toronto area this summer to do the AFF course...

Can't wait.........

If anyone lives in the area get a hold of me....maybe we can set something to make a trip or 2 this summer cheaper to do a few jumps

Since you're in for a long drive anyways, you might want to consider driving to Chicago instead of Toronto. Its a shorter drive, prices are cheaper, dropzone is bigger, plus you get to jump from a real airplane.

If Chicago's too far, there's a few dz's in wisconsin and Minnesota you should take a look at. The closest DZ to you is prolly one of the two DZ's in Minnesota, both near the Twin Cities.

If you make it to Chicago, look me up. I'm a Canadian ex-pat, I spent many summers up your way, I spent wayy too much time in Atikokan... Egads that place is marvelous...

Thanks Andyman

If i ever get that way i will definitely look ya up....

I've been checking out the DZ's in Minnesota and Wisconsin........

Skydive Superior is actually the closest to Thunder Bay.....only problem is they don't have a website to get any info from........

Skydive Twin Cities has alot of info on there website and so far seems the best place for me to go....

I could handle the 6hour drive once a month to get some jump time in.....but the closer the better...

Thanks

Two things I learned when I was at Carleton U.

1) Beer and Pizza are kinda like sex. Even when they're not so good, they're still good.

2) Never pass up an OK beer on the way to a better beer.

Now that I'm out in the real world, I think skydiving needs to be added to the first, and dropzones pertain to the second.

Cheers, and welcome to the sport and the forums...
