It's about damn time!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody!! How's it going? I thought it was time I finally quit lurking & do a meet & greet to introduce myself, since it looks like my "# of jumps" is FINALLY gonna be more than 1 in a couple of days. WOO-HOO!! B| I'll start off by saying I've found this site to be not only educational & informative (first & foremost) but DAMN ENTERTAINING as well!! In the short time I've been here I feel like I've known many of you for years!! The first thing I do now when I log on is to see who else is online. I think that's one of the many things I find so awesome about all of this...friendly, supportive, approachable people. But I must say...A FEW OF YOU SCARE ME!! ;) Let's see..I'm 40, basically been blue-collar all my life, married for a little over 12 years now to Nora, (we're D.I.N.K's, BTW), & the MOST of the rest you can get by clicking on my name. I did a tandem ("roller coaster ride" whuffo) @ Skydive Orange in the late fall of '02, got hooked immediatley & had HOPED to start AFF this past spring, but some family stuff put it on hold (which actually wasn't a bad thing) because in the meantime I've tried to educate myself as much as possible thru every book I could get my hands on, reading the SIM from cover to cover, ordering videos, talking to people, and of course you guys!! Also along the way I've gone to Skyventure in Orlando while on vacation this past July which was AWESOME, dragged the wife to Bridge Day down in WV, saw "Adrenaline Rush" in IMAX, constantly look up in the sky & sometimes stick my head & arms out my car window while driving just to feel the wind!! :S (C'mon, I know you've all done it!!) What's missing??? JUMPING FROM A FRIKKIN' PLANE!! Lo & behold, we leave this Fri. for a little vacation down in the Keys, so I told Nora "I don't care WHAT we do as long as I get to jump!!" So...as soon as we land in Ft. Lauderdale on Fri., we pick up the rental car & haul ass first thing to Skydive Miami!! I CAN'T WAIT!! Things are looking a little better now, so with a little luck this will be the year!! My goals are simple...be safe, constantly learn, & have fun!! Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for takin' the time to read this, & I hope to one day meet everybody!! (A special shout out to the "older" crowd & those of you from VA) Blue Skies & stay safe. Don

It must of been a long year for you. Once you've enjoyed the feeling of skydiving you can't wait to go back. Good luck on your next jump and welcome to sport.

Welcome to the forums,
just be very careful with Skydive Miami, I went there on may 15 2002 for a tandem, that's all I wanted to do, and now I have 385 jumps :P
Say hay to everybody there from a swiss guy who did 3 tandems in one day.

BTW if you manage to get any info about a nice miss who was jumping there, Kimmy was her name and she was a sargeant in the army, we had a talk about military career, and now I should become a captain by the end of the year...

P.S. ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT
