CanuckInUSA 0 #2 October 28, 2003 Welcome to DZ.COM and to our world (or was that our addiction). You might want to update your profile with some basic info (such as your first name and where you are from etc, etc, etc). That way we'll have a better idea as to where you jump and what you've done with your jumping career. Good luck with your jumps ... and keep as posted as to your experiences. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

skyyhi 0 #7 October 28, 2003 Well thanks for the welcome everyone. . .Sorry I haven't updated my profile yet. I guess I would consider Lake Elsinore my home dropzone since that is where I will be doing my AFF and A licensing instruction. I have always wanted to skydive, just never knew anyone who did - now I do. Also, my father was a pilot and always said to me when I expressed interest "why jump out of a perfectly good airplane". I am sure you have all heard that one before. . . Anyway, I look forward to letting you all know how the first jump goes. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
CanuckInUSA 0 #8 October 28, 2003 Quotemy father was a pilot and always said to me when I expressed interest "why jump out of a perfectly good airplane". I am sure you have all heard that one before. . . My natural father is a retired air force jet fighter pilot as well as a retired airline pilot. A few years ago, he was happy to learn when I got my private pilot's certificate. But his eyes rolled last year when I told him I was pursuing skydiving. Also, for years I let my slightly older brother influence me with the "why jump out of a perfectly good airplane" saying as well. But I always knew that I wanted to try skydiving and then my first good opportunity happened in the summer of 2002 when I did my first tandem. Well from that point on, I knew that I was hooked and I recently showed my brother my recently completed skydiving movie. He's still a total whuffo, but I think my bro understands why I/we jump. sdgregory 0 #9 October 29, 2003 QuoteWelcome to DZ.COM and to our world (or was that our addiction). um I am not addicted. This sport is not an addiction. Really I can stop anytime I want to. Its not like I have jumped every weekend since I started. It is not like I have 22 jumps in three weeks. No really, I can quit, watch, I will, first let me finish this weekend. I made a committment to go and I would not want to let anyone down. But after this weekend I will quit, unless of course the next weekend there are blue skies, but definitely after that. See I am not addicted.

And to all of those saying they are not addicted. . .who the hell are you trying to convince! Yeah, I haven't even jumped yet and I still go hang out at the dropzone with my jumping friend just to watch. . .I am already addicted and I haven't even jumped out of the damn plane yet.________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy

cruzit 0 #14 November 10, 2003 Woo hoo indeed. The good thing about your first AFF is you spend the whole day in the first jump course which helps to settle some of the jitters. Let us know how you do and what you liked best. Jackie
