BoostedXT 0 #1 September 27, 2003 Ok I am new here and I am wondering if there are any good books you would recommend for a newbie to read. I am signing up for my AFF in January, so I am looking for some books to read to get an early education. I figure this is one of those sports where you should never stop learning because you never know when you may need something new. Any help for a newbie?JoeFor long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. skycutie 0 #2 September 27, 2003 The Skydivers Information Manual, also known as SIMs. You can download it from the USPA webpage. It has everything you need to know about this sport (according to the US Parachute Association) MEN: you can't live with 'em, you can't shoot 'em, but you can act psychotic and keep 'em off balance. FrenchyDiver 0 #3 September 27, 2003 I agree with Skycuties. Plus, it has a Q&A at the end of each level that will enable you to study and get prepared for the quiz tests during your AFF progression. Hispas Brothers President HISPA #2,

bigfritz 0 #5 September 28, 2003 I'm a new skydiver as well, I have 23 jumps so far. I've been reading the The Skydiver's Handbook and it's an excellent book. LOTS of info. ------------------------ Freefly, baby.
MikeTJumps 4 #6 September 28, 2003 Congratulations on your intent of becoming well informed prior to taking your class. As Skymama was kind enough to write, the book that I co-author is one of the good sources of material on the sport. There are others out there as well such as Tom Buchanan's "JUMP" PSH is now in its 9th edition, revised this year for the newest information on training programs by the USPA. Information on it is available in DZ.com's classifieds as well as other sources easily available to you. Stay safe! .Mike Turoff Instructor Examiner, USPA Co-author of Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook
