I just graduated from ERAU, and got a job out here with Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. I havent jumped since I got out here, which was almost a month ago. Anyway, is anybody from the DFW area? AggieDave 6 #3 September 20, 2003 Dallas is a rock'n DZ, that goes with out saying. Turbine lift power, big DZ, lots of people. Eagle Flight is one seriously cool, laid back DZ. That's where I started jumping at and where I did my first 100 jumps at. The people there are top-notch. It is a 182 DZ, but it is definately one cool 182 DZ. Some time you need to get down to SD Aggieland, my home DZ, we're a kickass 182 DZ that bring turbines in quite a bit. Infact this weekend we're jumping a CASA! --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
nightjumps 1 #4 September 20, 2003 I second what AggieDave said about both your choices.
MikeTJumps 4 #5 September 21, 2003 I used to work at GD (1988-91) prior to the A-12 contract fiasco which unemployed 20,000 of us in the next few years. Good luck in your job there. Closest to you is Skydive Texas in Decatur. Unfortunately, Tom crashed two of his airplanes in the past two years, but don't hold that against him. Skydive Dallas is in Whitewright. That will be a drive of 90 miles for you. Gainesville shut down in the past year (to my knowledge). Rick Duran is a guard at Lockheed-Martin Ft. Worth and he can give you the scoop on all the local DZs.Mike Turoff Instructor Examiner, USPA Co-author of Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook
Zlew 0 #6 September 21, 2003 Skydive Texas is no longer in operation. Dallas and G-berry are the 2 choices at the moment for the dallas area. oh yea, the death of the porter (crash number 2) was not durring skydiving operations. skies Z
