nocalskychick 0 #1 July 31, 2003 Hey Everyone, I just started my AFF training a few weeks ago and am now on my level 3 jump. I can't believe what I have been missing.... Wish I started sooner. My level 2 jump had a horrible exit, great recovery, awesome dive, then cutaway, and completely biffed my landing on my landing. A little nervous about going back. The cutaway didn't bother me, it was the exit and landing. Any suggestions on how to get over my fear of the exit and landing not to mention the embarrassment. FrenchyDiver 0 #3 July 31, 2003 Agreed, relax, relax and relax again. Your fear is normal, it will disminish whit experience. You went back and that's what matters. The more you jump the more you will build confidence. Trust yourself. No need to be embarassed, you are just begining. We all went through the same feelings. Welcome to the boards, and moreover WELCOME TO THE FAMILY. Let us know how it's going. JM Hispas Brothers President HISPA #2,

Sebazz1 2 #5 July 31, 2003 Hello No-Cal chick and welcome to the forums... Experience makes things easier and eventually second nature. Get right back up there soon and then as often as possible. QuoteAny suggestions on how to get over my fear of the exit and landing not to mention the embarrassmentUm... Every one started at the beggining just like you. Do not be embarrassed. To be honest skydivers are some of the more tolerant and supportive people I have ever met. Visualize your jumps before you execute them. Perform the actual physical motions of exiting the aircraft. Practice freefall with proper arms, hips and legs positioning. Visualize the landings. Go out and watch others land... Soon it will all be second nature and you will be giving the same advice to another newcomer.. Cheers! & Big Blue Skies!!

BBKid 0 #7 July 31, 2003 QuoteDon't worry about being embarrassed, there isn't a skydiver alive who hasn't done something stupid. Such as looking at their leg on exit (to make sure they did it right), going head down and spinning like a tornado. Not me, you understand. Ahem. When you're worried about the exit or landing, just try to remember how much you enjoy that freefall feeling, and the exit just becomes a means to an end. mrmedic 0 #8 July 31, 2003 As all have said before, relax. And remember it's perfectly natural to be a little scarde, hell, you're jumping out of an airplane! But again, we've all screwed up at least once, but we all came back. And the previous jump was just that, the previous one. Just do it. And hurry back.CYA!....up there
BlueEyedMonster 0 #9 August 1, 2003 ha ha ha Welcome! It could be worse. One of our AFF students had a cutaway on jump #2 too. The JM landed him in a drainage ditch under his reserve on the radio. Waist high water. Fear of exit is overcome by more exits. When its your turn to exit take a deep deep breath let it out and tell your self, Yes this is what I'm here for! Relax, arch and watch the plane fly away. when you can watch the plane fly away you'll know you doing it right.
