corpkid 0 #1 June 15, 2003 Jumped my first tandem today in Deland for my B-day. What an incredible experience it was! I'm hooked, and starting my AFF next weekend! My TM and camera guy were excellent, and I just had a GREAT time! Everyone at the DZ was so cool and even though it was busy and I had to wait, it was cool meeting everyone. Can't wait to go back next weekend... I can already see the credit card statments!
skydive84 0 #2 June 15, 2003 Good luck with AFF. Youll love jumping your own canopy + taking control yourself. DeLand Kicks Ass Did AFF there at christmas. Blue skies (as if that was an issue in florida!!!) Adi
TheRus 0 #3 June 15, 2003 Congratz to ya! I'm coming up on my first tandem soon (also a B-day present) and hopefully will not be too far behind you on starting AFF... but I guess we will see (depending on $$$). Glad to have you on the boards! Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine You my friend, I will defend... and if we change, well, I love you anyway
skydiven4fun 0 #4 June 15, 2003 You have no idea about the credit card statements. Double whatever number came to your mind.Still here after all these years Clayton
skymama 37 #5 June 15, 2003 I'm so glad you enjoyed your tandem. Sunnydee and I were there all day, did you see us? (check out the picture). We did our night jumps last night at Deland too. It was very interesting. Just a thought...did you happen to yell out about how your tandem was the best thing you've ever done in your life as you were coming off the field? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
corpkid 0 #6 June 15, 2003 That was probably me! I landed around 4ish.. I added my picture to my profile and is in my "icon". I thought I saw you, but wasn't sure, and was kind of pre-occupied with watching the folks sail in! I had never seen a parachute in my life prior to this! I was thinking about my first jump, and trying to paraphrase it. Best thing I've ever done sums it up nicely! I was pretty freaked going up in the plane as I had no idea what to expect, but as soon as we left the door, ANY feeling of nerves left, and it was just euphoric! Truely amazing, and can't wait to pull a few solo jumps! (after AFF, of course). I heard that night jumps are usually pretty "hair raising", from guys who had over 2k jumps logged! What do you mean by "interesting"?
mellies 0 #7 June 15, 2003 Cool man. Nice to know there is other people that felt the same as I did after my first tandem. I did mine in Swakopmund about a year ago and started a static line course two days later. Welcome aboard and blue skies forever. Mellies.

skymama 37 #9 June 16, 2003 I'm not sure I saw you then, I was taking a nap around 4, I think. Wasn't the rain coming in about then? You can read about my view of the night jumps here. Those will be it for me. corpkid 0 #11 June 16, 2003 Yeah, I jumped about 10 minutes after the showers stopped... I was supposed to go at 2, but it was pretty busy and I kept getting pushed back... But hey, what a GREAT place to hang out! I can say I won't be taking any night jumps for a while based on how you describe them! I saw the sign up for it Saturday, but you had to have 50+ jumps, so maybe some day! Well, at least you can say you have that under your belt, and it sounds like you did fantastic! Congrats! I'll be on the lookout for ya next time at the DZ, you'll see me, I'm the newbie in AFF probably landing it hard somewhere way off course!
BlueEyedMonster 0 #12 June 16, 2003 Don't let anyone scare you about the night jumps. I just did mine this weekend too. And I wanted MORE. Its just a new twist to a great experience.
dupagirl 0 #13 June 16, 2003 Woohoo, I made my first tandem jump at Deland on Saturday also...I plan on going through AFF sometime in the near future as well. I can't stop smiling a stupid grin ever since...that was the most incredible thing I have ever done!! I look forward to many, MANY more in the future. corpkid 0 #14 June 16, 2003 Tell me about it... It's like you can define life by setting certian points: Everything before this, and everything after this. This was one of those moments for me! It's all I dream about at night, and last night, I climbed up onto my roof and watched the Sanford airport looking at the small planes coming in and taking off, wishing I was jumping off of them! I have always been a Type A person, driving fast, rollercoasters, cliff jumping - but this is so much more, it's an actual community of Type A's who love to fly! NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY ALL YOU "CRAZY" PEOPLE DO THIS! I saw a bumper-sticker at the DZ that said something like: "Skydivers jump to live life, not to defy death" I think that sums it up nicely! see ya in the sky!
