Happy to be here now that I figured it out.

Many times I haved gazed at the screen watching others post items. It took me a while but I am finally here with you guys now that I know how to work everything. I'm not great on the computer but at least I am trying.

I have been jumping in Hinkley since September of last year. I agree with all that I have heard about the wonderful people and communities formed by skydiving. I have visited eight different dz's over the past six months and have not found one that I did not like. I have learned that when you skydive you always have friends. Shortly I will be moving to Houston and hope to discover the great things Texas has to offer. If anyone currently has a dz that they jump near Houston I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

Heather

Welcome to the forums! :)

We have quite a few Texans around here, I'm sure they'll chime in pretty soon.

Welcome!

I'm not a Texan, but as an Arkansan I'm sure I'll pass through your state eventually. ;)

Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine
You my friend, I will defend... and if we change, well, I love you anyway

Hi, dude. Just cozy on up to the bar, here,
pfffft.

I live in Houston. It's a pretty big city, with 3 DZs, on the NW (Skydive Houston), SW (Houston Skydiving Center -- new) and S (Skydive Spaceland) sides respectively. Each says they're about 30 minutes from downtown, 2 out of the 3 lie about it, and the third one only doesn't if you drive real fast B|. There's also Skydive Aggieland, about 1 1/2 hrs away.

But all are close by any reasonable DZ standards. Houston Skydiving Center (King Air?) is an unknown quantity, thought to be likely to specialize in tandem students. SD Houston (1 Otter) has had some flux lately, and they're looking for inputs on what people want -- great opportunity. Skydive Spaceland (2 Otters) is a busy commercial DZ with a good population. I'm closest to it, so I jump there most often. But I go out of my way to SD Houston sometimes, too.

2 out of the 3 have websites available through the Dropzones link at the top of the page.

So PM me when you get closer to showing up, and consider putting your picture as your avatar and posting in Talkback when you get close to coming, so we can all laugh and point at you :D
