Skylark 0 #1 December 4, 2002 I have 18 jumps. I know that I want to fly a wingsuit. Seeing the FastestMotherFuckerInTheValley clip on skydivingmovies.com has changed me. But how do I achieve this? I'll need at least 500 jumps before I can even begin to learn to fly. I've figured this will probably cost me in the region of £10,000, probably more. It will likely take me several years, too. It won't happen if I try and achieve this while at the same time trying to live my other life, too. Career, relationships, building a stable future, buying a house etc. etc. How have the rest of you done it? Will I need to concentrate full-time on skydiving? I'm in an 'all or nothing' situation. Either I attack my goal 120% or not at all. Will the experience of flying a suit really be worth it? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." TomAiello 26 #2 December 4, 2002 I don't recommend giving up your life in pursuit of any one goal (jumping or otherwise). The jumper in that video clip was happily married, had two children, a nice home, and a good career as a software developer. You don't need to abandon everything to get there.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

skymama 37 #4 December 4, 2002 Whoa, slow down and take it easy! There's plenty of time for you to reach your goals. But, first you need to get a lot of basic jumps and canopy experience under your belt. Safety first, or you won't be around to learn the wingsuit! And, Tom is right. Make sure you have balance in your life. Skydiving is great, but there's definitely more to life. Welcome to the forums! skymama 37 #7 December 8, 2002 Quote huh? Heehee, yes, there IS more to life than skydiving. Even though skydiving is how I like to spend most of my free time, I find that if I also learn about and do different things, it makes me a much more interesting person. Either I attack my goal 120% or not at all. Will the experience of flying a suit really be worth it? I can COMPLETLY relate to your "Manic" desire. When I saw the Birdman suit, I was entigued. I then saw the "SKY RAY" and was feeling possed by the Germilins of the sky(140mph horizontal flight/track )mph vertical). By the time I'm ready for all that, I will have NEW goals that may not even involve that or skydiving(Father of 3), such as wind tunnel time for the kids. Time changes all, even rocks are changed. A good example: 6years of "my life is Bobsled & Skeleton/Cresta" then, I got talked into scuba and skydiving by the same guy. Now people & family think I'm a "Preacher" that wants to get their souls to Heaven by trowing them out of a plan in the name of JOY!Stay focused but, stay flexible too (as I'm typing this, I have my foot behind my head)p.s. My wife put me in this position so I couldn't go jump today-Grant_______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
