DownWind 0 #1 March 24, 2004 First I want to say that I will have my rigger check this at the DZ Saturday, but I can not help trying to do it myself for the learning experience. Does anyone have experience attaching a RW collapsible pilot chute to a RW D bag? Directions for the part I am stuck on are as follows: 4. Pull your bridle though the main bag grommet until the grommet is between the stop block on the outside of the bag and the stop block on the inside of the bag. I have to admit I feel like my 5 year old nephew trying to put the square peg in the circle hole. The stoppers are obviously meant to keep the bridle connected to the D bag, so it would make sense it is difficult to pass the stopper through the grommet. Anyone have a trick to putting the bridle stopper through the grommet? --- edited for spelling
pilotdave 0 #2 March 24, 2004 Totally unofficial answer since I'm not a rigger, but I did watch my rigger do this on my new vector3 a week ago. He squeezed it down with a pair of pliers. Dave
livnbored 0 #3 March 24, 2004 squish squish squish... I find a packing tool or pull up cord run through them and then through the gromet to have some leverage helps a ton...
DownWind 0 #4 March 24, 2004 Thanks, I guess I will let my rigger have at this one since I am not going near the bridle with a pair of pliers. Thanks for the input!
livnbored 0 #5 March 24, 2004 that's how i had to do mine... pliers help, but if you've never done it b4, let you're rigger do it... good choice
DownWind 0 #6 March 24, 2004 Thanks PilotDave & LivnBored!! I put a bit of padding on my locking pliers, little pressure and convinced the stop block to slide through the grommet. Thanks again!!
