What would you change first?

Recommended Posts

Here is my delema....

I bought a used rig (Vector3 - Spectre 210 - Raven-D 218) a while back and while I am thrilled with the Spectre, I would like to change the other parts at some point. The rig fits pretty good considering my body type. I have a weight lifters frame (small waist large chest, broad shoulders) so its a bit tight in the chest and shoulders. This being the case I would like to get a custom container.

The other part is the reserve. My rigger does not have a very high opinion of Raven reserves and told me I should get rid of it. After reading some reviews about it here, it seems he was right. He warned of stalling and crummy flair. He also said he has seen them blow up quite a few times. I know they obviously work, just not the type of review I like hearing about my life saver.

So, this is my question! What would you spend the money on first? A new PD reserve or a custom container? I am leaning towards the container, but I wanted to know what the rest of you think.

Thanks!
Oz

personally, id go for the PD reserve first. nothing to back that up, but thats what i would do...ive read some of the same reviews youve probably read on here about the Raven. not really something i want to think about if im in need of using my reserve. that and the ride i had on my PD was sweet :)

Your rigger is right, the Raven is not the best reserve on the market. But I think he is stretching it "quite" a bit when he says he has seen them blow up "quite a few times.

Have your Rigger, or RWS itself, determine whether or not the harness can be resized (main lift web or laterals) to accomodate your body. This is a MUCH less expensive alternative to buying a new rig. If the tightness comes from the yoke being too small, the new rig is the way to go.

If you choose to replace your Raven reserve, find a used one with zero jumps. It will save you some cashola. Use the Vector 3 Sizing Chart to determine which size PD Reserve you need for your container.

What was it that you didnt like about the Raven? Just curious since I have yet to need it.

well i rode a raven to the ground yesterday on jump #18. yeah so im a newbie. However i have decided that iu was not to fond of that raven. It was just hard to fly. It had like no flair, and was well... just odd feeling. But it got me to the ground safly, i had an ok landing... stood up after running it off for like... forever... but i wasnt comfortable under it.
