riggerrob 643 #1 March 17, 2004 Since PIA is starting to solicit lecturers for the 2005 Symposium, what lectures would you like to hear. I have never seen a manual or lecture that covers the "dark arts" of line kit installation. Complex sewn patches with practice? Sponsored by a sewing machine manufacturer, even better? Can we get Sandy Reid to repeat his well-attended lecture on major harness repairs? Handy cam? Training new jump pilots? A great way to filter out all the marketing hype would be to invite container manufacturers to a race that would prove which container is really the quickest to pack. Oh, and the winner of the first race has to down a shot of Tequila before the second heat. Hee! Hee! Feel free to suggest any lecture you want.
PhreeZone 20 #2 March 17, 2004 The line kit install would be nice to hear, but honestly some hands on experience is the best way I learn new things so I'd be in line for some patch sewing in a heartbeat if I get to practice it at the same time also.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
masterrig 1 #3 March 17, 2004 Rags Raghanti, puts-on a great class on patching parachutes and canopy repair. The man is amazing! I too, would like to see Sandy Reid hold his class on 'Harness Repair'. At Symposium '99, in San diego, he was supposed to have done a class, but, something went South, and the class was never scheduled. I would imagine, some areas could get rather involved and probably why they aren't scheduled!? Chuck
councilman24 37 #4 March 17, 2004 Rob, Which ones are you volunteering for? Since I'm the guy coordinating the speakers, just let me know and your in. Anybody's welcome to suggest a topic. But we need a speaker to go with it! We've discussed longer, more in depth "classes" on some topics, but right now we are not organized to do it. If someone wanted to sponsor a short course and co-locate with the symposium that could be facilitated. But with the Super bowl a week and a half away space beyond what PIA had may be at a premium. Hmm, I'm not sure I want to know how fast someone can throw a reserve together. My customers will be demanding one hour turnaround! Once the schedule starts to firm up I will start hitting on manufacturers to donate line kits, etc.
