BoostedXT 0 #1 March 15, 2004 OK I know there are some dependant stuff on what someones wing loading should be. But I am looking for general thouhts.....I am buying my first rig and out the door weight I am 185-190...depends on what I ate for lunch. I have jumped from a 210-230 on my student rigs, and this will be my first rig. The set up I like is used and my only concern is that it comes with a Batwing 170.....I think that it might be to small for me. But on the other hand I have talked with people who said that loading of 1.07:1 was not a lot. I have been trying to find out info on the main canopy but I cant find anything on their flight charactoristics. Any help, or advice would be greatly appreciated. The other thing I am thinking is buying the set up and putting in a bit bigger main.....190+ and saving the 170 for when I downsize down the road. Thoughts on that? pilotdave 0 #2 March 15, 2004 I think the batwing is a pretty high performance canopy. Keep looking! Dave
PhreeZone 20 #3 March 15, 2004 The Batwing was made by Precision back in the 90's. It was their version of a Stiletto. NOT a good first canopy no matter what wingloading.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
hookitt 1 #4 March 15, 2004 That's closer to 1.3 cuz you'll be around 220 out the door with all your equipment. Leave the Batwing alone. For one it's not a good parachute for a new skydiver, and a 170 any thing is even worse. Keep looking. Stick with the larger ones. Are you really jumping a 210 already? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
BoostedXT 0 #5 March 15, 2004 Just to let ya know I am 185-190 out the door.....as in with all the gear on. I am a skinny dude. Thats what I figured about it....would it be worth it to buy the rig anyways and sell the main and use that money to buy something like a SILHOUETTE 210? That is of course the container will hold it. Thanks for the info everyone! JoeFor long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. pilotdave 0 #6 March 15, 2004 Naah. Keep looking. Not worth the effort to buy somethign just to sell it. Might be a different story if it was a PERFECT container for you and you already had a main to go in it, but this sounds like more trouble than its worth. Plus, if a 210 even could fit, it would probably be a very tight fit which is no fun for your first container. Dave

I missed this part... >>>> I am buying my first rig and out the door weight I am 185-190...depends on what I ate for lunch<<<< hehehe.. still, the Batwing isn't worth much so save some trouble and forget the Batwing altogther.
