Container Size

Recommended Posts

That is not the container size, rather the harness size. It was probably a Mirage right?
It has to do with the main lift web, the leg straps, and yoke;)

Close. Main Lift Web. Leg Pads. Yoke.

How tall are you? How much do you weigh? What's your inseam measurement?

Best bet to determine if that harness will fit you would be to give Mirage a call with the above measurements (and keep a measuring tape and someone to measure you handy while you're on the phone with them).

On my rig it's MLW, leg pad, laterals difference in length from standard. there are actually 4 measurements.

My rig before they fixed it was 15/16/-1/-1, now it's 15/16/-.5. so the yoke is standard size and the laterals are 1/2 inch shorter than standard.

SEE bonnie, I'm not as stupid as I thought....:P:P:ph34r: and here I was changing my original post.>:(
I knew it has something to do with the laterals as well, but I agree with Skybytch that Mirage would know better than anyone...

blue skies,

How would the mirage sizing (actual measures) compare to the more cryptic e.g. c-17 Javelin, or small, medium, large Wings, and whatever sizing used by other manufacturers? It would be nice to know if you are going to buy in stock or used?

They don't, really. Each manufacturer has their own harness (and container) sizing methods.

If you're planning to buy something used or stock it's best to contact the manufacturer of the container you are interested in with your measurements and the serial number (or at a minimum the harness size). They can tell you if it will fit you or not.

You can get a rough idea of what MLW you need with the following formula - height in inches minus inseam (crotch to floor, no shoes) in inches minus 20. Example - I'm 5'8" (68") with a 33" inseam. 68 - 33 - 20 = 15. A 15" MLW fits me well. This formula is not perfect though as it does not include leg pad or lateral measurements, nor does it take into account body shape, but it's a good place to start and will help narrow your choices to rigs that "should" fit you.
