dmcoco84 5 #1 December 21, 2005 So I logged my 16th jump last night. It was a great jump! Another phone ground crew 900 A. I had a great freefall, 5 seconds, and with an on heading opening. I even started working on some Sub terminal tracking. After I landed, I kinda just stood there for a few minutes. I looked up at the tower I had just jumped and felt on overwhelming feeling of joy. And I had a thought! That thought was: I want to say Thank You! Thank you to all those who have made BASE what it is today. Thank you to all our elders who have progressed this sport from its beginnings using gear that is less than desirable in today standards for making a BASE jump. Thank you to all the experienced jumpers for continuing to keep the sport alive and growing. Thank you to all the manufacturers for the years of hard work in designing BASE specific gear that makes jumping as safe as it can possibly be. Thanks to all the newbie’s, like myself, who are helping to expand the sport even further. And thank you to all the mentors! Without your confidence and guidance, many of us would be unable to safely entire the wonderful world of BASE. BASE has given me a feeling of happiness and completeness that I have never gained through any other source. Not only through the jumps but through the bonds we form though jumping together. Thank you all for making it possible! Coco Edited to add: And I unfortunately forgot to mention: To our fallen brothers and sisters! It’s sad that you're no longer joining us at the exit point, but thank you for having the courage and the drive to live your life to the fullest! You may be gone but never forgotten. Back in the days (yesterday) when I was still a little post whore myself, I would start threads just like the one you just wrote. In fact, here is one that I'm rather embarrassed about in hindsight. Oh well... It's a great sport and it's exciting to be a part of it. Fortunately, I'm no longer the only jumper in town here so I can share my excitiment with the locals instead of having to bother everybody on DZ.com. Keep the passion going and you'll be giving back to the sport the very thing you got out of it.
