grundleson 0 #1 November 11, 2005 alright, so i'm stuck at a bit of a dilema. i have one rig, a twin pin rig that i am very happy with. but now its time to buy a second rig. i know i wont really get a straight answer from anyone, but hey, some advice and "opinions" would be a great deciding factor. So. if you have a pin rig already and really like pin rigs in general, would you a. buy a second pin rig or b. buy a velcro rig my only thinking in buying a second pin rig is only that i feel comfortable with it. but, as many have said and i have seen there are much less complications at exit points and closing packjobs with a velcro rig. SO. whats your take? Dont die!
TomAiello 26 #2 November 11, 2005 If you're happy with the pin rig, I'd probably say get another one. If all your gear is identical it's harder to get confused. On the other hand, if you just want to try a bunch of stuff to gain more knowledge, velcro is pretty cool. Weren't you just saying that you were too poor to skydive? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
grundleson 0 #3 November 11, 2005 yeah tom i did say i was too poor to skydive. but i am never too poor to put myself in serious debt due to my addiction to base jumping. SO. anyways. Dont die!
TomAiello 26 #4 November 11, 2005 Have you demoed both? Next time you're in Twin (if you haven't already decided by then) you're welcome to just borrow one of my velcro rigs for three days, and put a bunch of jumps on it. Then you'll be in a position to make a more educated decision.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
LouYoung 0 #5 November 11, 2005 I was jumping a two-pin rig for 8 or 9 months before I decided to get another BASE rig. I specifically looked for a used velcro rig because I just wanted more options in my arsenal. With that said, I still primarily jump my pin rig unless I'm going someplace where I plan to make some back to back jumps. If I ever do some intentional water landings, I'll use the velcro rig, but only because my pin rig is too pretty for me to want to dump it into a lake or river.
